N. R. "Cork" Easley, Jr., a longtime Enid resident went to be with Lord on Sunday, September 16, 2007 at the age of 78 years.

The son of the late Noah R. Easley, Sr. and Ollie Hurst Easley, Cork was born on August 19, 1929 in Ravia, OK. He was a proud graduate of Ravia High School and had later attended Murray College in Tishomingo.

He was united in marriage to Virginia Lee "Edith" Easley on September 10, 1949 in Tishomingo and to this union three children, Doug, Roy, and Barbara, were born. The Easley?s had made their home in Tishomingo before moving to Sherman, TX, Sulphur, OK, and finally to Enid, OK where they raised their family. While living in Sherman, Cork had worked in Grand Prairie and after moving to Sulphur he worked for Dolese in Big Canyon, OK near Sulphur. Cork had also worked a bread route for Continental Bakery in Sulphur and eventually became a regional supervisor for that company. Cork and Edith had also owned the Sulphur Hotel before moving to Enid where he began working for Champlin Refinery. While living in Enid they also had owned the Trail Motel and the Lazy H Motel. After 56 years of marriage, Edith passed away on February 6, 2006. Cork later married Venus (Prather) Watkins on March 20, 2007. The couple had enjoyed attending Emmanuel Baptist Church in Enid. They were enjoying spending time with each other's families and were planning to take a trip to Yellowstone National Park in the near future.

Cork was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tishomingo; had been active in the Gideon's and was a member of the Sulphur Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife Venus of the home; two sons, Doug Easley and his wife Sharon of Enid and Roy Easley and his wife Brenda of Enid; one daughter, Barbara Ryan and her husband Terry of Pond Creek, OK; three step-daughters, Gayle Leader and her husband James of Seminole, OK, Stephany Wilson and her husband Ron of Enid, and Dana Foster and her husband Ken of Enid; one sister, Carolyn Mower and her husband Dennis of Ravia; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents and his first wife Edith, Cork was preceded in death by one sister, Anna Easley.

Visitation will be held at the Anderson Burris Funeral Home in Enid.

Cork's funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, September 20, 2007 in the Chapel of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Enid with burial to follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid, OK.

Services are under the direction of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, OK.
