June 22, 1941 - July 4, 2023

The graveside services for 82-year-old, Enid resident Jimmie Allen Evans Sr will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 8, 2023, in the Chapel of Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. Pastor David Reber will officiate.

Jimmie was born June 22, 1941, in Enid to Jimmie and Helen (Taylor) Evans and passed away July 4, 2023. Jim Married Vesta Paulette "Polly" Shippy, May 23, 1966. He was raised in Enid, Oklahoma and graduated from Enid High in 1960. They had four children. He served in the 45th Infantry of the Oklahoma National Guard, worked at Vance Air Force Base on T-38 planes for several years. He worked for the Enid Fire Department and retired as a Captain after 25 years of service in 1997.

After retirement Jim worked for the Enid Public Schools as an elementary bus driver. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, vegetable gardening, and his naps. He loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events and spending time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife Polly of 57 years. His children Teresa Washburn and husband Dale, Son-in-law Micheal Lawver, Ginger Courter and husband Mavick, and Jimmie Evans Jr, all of Enid, Oklahoma; Six grandchildren, Brad Washburn and wife Wendy, Lauren (Lawver) McBride and husband Jacob, Mason Lawver, Morgan (Lawver) Treat and husband Trey, Chase Courter, and Macy Courter, and Six great-grandchildren. Jim has one sister Linda Kirby of Belvidere, Illinios and a brother-in-law Blaine Jantzen of Bartlesville, OK.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, one sister Janice Janzen, and daughter Jill Lawver.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the St. Paul's Lutheran Church General Fund.
