Driskell, age 102, of Boulder, Colorado, formerly of Enid, Oklahoma, is 2 pm Saturday February 24, 2018, at the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Her nephew, Mike Gracy, will officiate. Her burial follows at Memorial Park Cemetery. Lova passed away February 4, 2018. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau Funeral Home. Lova and her twin sister, Lois, were born November 4, 1915, at their farm near Garber, Oklahoma, to Charles E. and Edye Gaynell [Bruce] Gracy. The twins were raised on the farm near Garber and went to Garber public schools. Lova married Cecil Maxey of Enid, Oklahoma, on June 30, 1936. Lova and Cecil were phenomenal dancers. They would be given the entire floor at dance halls, surrounded by crowds of onlookers. Lova and Cecil lived in a few farming communities near Garber, as well as on a farm south of Waukomis, Oklahoma, prior to buying their own farm near Wellington, Kansas. Cecil died on June 6, 1989. Lova married Ferrell Driskell in July, 1976. Ferrell died in August 2007. Besides helping with the farming, Lova worked at her children's school cafeteria, then at the furniture factory in Wellington. A couch she upholstered was displayed in a show in New York City. She also managed the Pine and Lodge Cafe and worked in Stamn's Grocery store. Her last job was for the Singer Sewing Machine Company in Enid. Lova retired to care for her parents at their farm, north of Caldwell, Kansas. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Wellington. Her parents, brother Warren Gracy, and twin sister, Lois predeceased her. Lova is survived by her son Vernon of Moore, Oklahoma; daughter Fern Bowman of Boulder; son Warren "Shorty" Maxey and wife Linda of Aquilla, Texas; and brother Eldon B. Gracy of Caldwell; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren; two stepchildren; step grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and many friends. Lova loved traveling, especially if she had to fly to get there. Over the past ten years, she cruised twice to the Caribbean; traveled twice to Hawaii; to Mount Rushmore; made several trips to Aspen, Colorado, and traveled three times to Prescott, Arizona, to visit Lois' daughter Pat and Pat's husband Steve. Pat and Steve took her to see the Grand Canyon, and to Nevada for one of her favorite activities slot machines. Lova and Lois celebrated several birthdays together. Their 90th birthday was celebrated at the Breckenridge Community Center in Enid, with over 100 friends and relatives in attendance. Lova was an adventurist. She was always happy and smiling that beautiful smile of hers to the end. Happy trails, dear Mama. |
© Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma February 4, 1995 December 12, 1915 ~ February 2, 1995 The funeral for Elwood V. Driskell, 79. will be 10 a.m. Monday at Henninger-Allen Funeral. The Rev Harold Van Cleave and Kevin Arensman will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid. He was born December 12, 1915, East of Hennessey to Timothy J. and Leota V. Barnhill Driskell and died February 2, 1995 in Mercy Hospital, OKC. He attended Hennessey Schools, later moving to Enid. He graduated from Enid High School and Enid Business College. On October 30. 1937 he married Beatrice E. "Bea" Kurz . They lived in Enid. In W W II he served in North Africa as a member of the Army Corps of Engineers. He later served with the U S Army Air Prirorities Command office in Italy. He retired from Bass Memorial Baptist Hospital purchasing department after 40 years service. Driskell was a 50 year member of Central Christian Church and a member of the Sooner Sunday School Class, Men's Extension Garden Club and the American Legion. He was also a member emeritus of the church board. Survivors are his wife Bea; one son, James D. Driskell of Tampa, FL and two grandchildren. |

Driskell, 86, formerly of Enid, passed away Wednesday evening, Jan. 29, 2003 in Brandon, FL where she had lived for the past five years. She was born May 7, 1918 in Burlington, OK to Theo and Blanche Kale Kurz. She was the loving wife of Elwood V. Driskell for 57 years whom she married in Enid on October 30, 1937. A loving mother to her son Jim Driskell and daughter-in-law, Susanne Driskell from Brandon, FL. and a loving grandmother to her grandson Scott of Tampa FL. She is also survived by three sisters, Kathrine Kurz of Enid; Shirley Woolery of OKC; Eunice Sedbrook of Del Rio, TX; and one brother Robert Kurz of Fort Worth, TX. She was reared in Burlington, OK and graduated from Enid High School in 1936. She worked for Gold Spot Dairy for several years before going to work in the family real estate business before retiring. She was a life long member of Central Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elwood, four brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be held at 10;00 am on Monday February 3, 2003 in the Henninger-Allen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev John McLemore officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid. |
© Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma September 13, 2008 July 12, 1953 ~ September 11, 2008 A memorial service for Ronald Wayne Driskell, age 55, of Plano, Texas, formerly of Enid, will be 11 am Tuesday at the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Don Tines officiating. Burial will be at a later time in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Ronald was born July 12, 1953, in Oklahoma City to Dale A. and Fay Barrick Driskell and passed away Thursday, September 11, 2008, in Plano, Texas. When Ron was two years old, the family moved to Enid. He attended Phillips University and later received his bachelor's degree in geology from Oklahoma State University. He met and married Katherine Kenyon while living in Dallas, Texas. They have a son, Sage, who is currently in China as an OU exchange student. After pursuing a career in geology, Ron became a financial consultant for Fidelity Investments and later the Charles Schwab Company. Ron is survived by his wife, Kathy and son, Sage of Plano, Texas; mother, Fay Driskell of Enid; brothers, Gary of Hennessey and Russell of Tulsa; a niece, Gina Denten of Dove Creek, CO.; and a nephew, Chad Driskell of Enid. He was preceded in death by his father. |
