Amelia Bernice [Hirst] Dodds
March 26, 1925 ~ October 25, 2016


A Celebration of Life Service for Amelia Bernice Dodds, 91, Enid, is 2 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2016, at the Golden Oaks Retirement Village Chapel, with the Rev Jack Weston officiating. Burial follows in Memorial Park Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Amelia was born March 26, 1925, in Enid to O.T. and Hazel [Warnaca] Hirst, and passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2016, in Enid.

She attended Enid Public Schools, graduating in 1944.

She then married her high school sweetheart, DuWaine Dodds, on July 6, 1944.

Shortly after they were married, DuWaine went to serve his country in the United States Army during WWII. During his absence, she worked in several local dress shops. Upon DuWaine's return from the war, they started their family, raising three sons and a daughter on the family farm.

She and DuWaine were partners in the Massey Ferguson Dealership, where they worked side by side together.

They were long time members of Emmanuel Baptist Church. They enjoyed many activities together, including bowling, and were members of the Roadrunner's Square Dancing Club.

She loved Phillips University Basketball and was a big fan of the OKC Thunder. Amelia loved watching John Wayne movies and listening to Elvis Presley, Dean Martin and Ricky Nelson, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, DuWaine Dodds; brother, J. W. Hirst; a sister, Catherine Nelson; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Amelia is survived by four children, Steven Dodds and wife, Alloette, of Plover, Wis.; Gary Dodds, of Enid; Richard Dodds and wife, Karen, of Edmond; Cheryl Graham and husband, Danny, of Edmond; 12 grandchildren; 17 great granchildren; a sister, Edith Sloan and husband, Don, of Enid; and brother-in-law, Roger Pickett and wife, Glenna, of Sand Springs.

Gary Waine Dodds
August 13, 1950 ~ May 1, 2018


A Celebration of Life for Gary Waine Dodds, age 67 years, of Enid, is 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 4, 2018, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gene Long to officiate. Burial follows in Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6-8:00 p.m. tonight, Thursday, May 3, 2018.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Gary was born in Enid, Oklahoma, on August 13, 1950, to Newell DuWaine and Amelia [Hirst] Dodds, and passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at Integris Bass Baptist Hospital in Enid.

Gary attended Enid High School, graduating with the class of 1969. He worked as a switchman for Santa Fe Railroad for 20 years before retiring in 1993.

Gary enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports, and he also enjoyed playing pool and cards.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Newell and Amelia Dodds.

He is survived by four sons, Dustin Dodds and wife Leslie, of Enid; Brandon Dodds and wife Alexia, of Enid; Kyle Dodds and wife Amber, of Enid; Clint Dodds and wife Mayme, of Yukon; seven grandchildren, Tanner, Edy, Taylor, Jayden, Madalyn, Maci and Bensley Dodds; two brothers, Steve Dodds and wife Ally, of Stevens Point, WI; Richard Dodds and wife Karen, of Enid; and sister Cheryl Graham and husband Danny, of Edmond; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials in Gary's name may be made to the charity of choice, with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
