March 4, 1923 ~ January 25, 2015


Funeral service for Dwight O. Dixon, 91, of Enid, Okla., will be 10 a.m. Friday, January 30, 2015, at Golden Oaks Chapel, with the Rev Gary Lillie officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the U.S. Army. Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

Dwight was born to John and Marcha [Buertelson] on March 4, 1923, in Harmon, Okla., and passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2015, in Enid.

Dwight graduated from Stroud High School and attended Southwestern State University Art School in Chicago, and Tulsa University.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army on May 27, 1943, and was discharged on February 7, 1946. Dwight served during WWII in the Artillery division.

He was married on December 31, 1976, to Mildred Francis Upton Robinson in Enid. They were members of First Baptist Church and he enjoyed playing his mandolin in Country Western Bands.

Dwight was a sign painter for the city of Enid for 40 years.

Dwight is survived by stepchildren, Mildred Upton Hager of Enid, Sam Upton of Houston, Texas, Loretta Spleth of Enid, and Rebekah Thompson of Marietta, Ga.; brothers, Floyd Dixon of Manchester, Okla., and Curtis Dixon of Oklahoma City; 20 grandchildren and several great and great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred; son, Everett J. Dixon; brother, Farrell Dixon; and parents.

Dale Harris Dixon
September 18, 1924 ~ October 3, 2006


A graveside service for Dale Dixon, 82, of McAlester, will be 2 p.m. Monday in Garden Chapel of Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

He was born September 18, 1924, in Hattie, Ark., to Herschel and Betty Dixon and died Tuesday, October 3, 2006, in McAlester.

He joined the Marines May 14, 1943, and was wounded at Iwo Jima February 24, 1945. He was awarded the Purple Heart and was honorably discharged Dec. 19, 1945.

He worked for Northrop at Vance Air Force Base in the quality control department, and later worked as a superintendent at Northstar retiring in 1965.

He married Evelyn Ray July 15, 1977, in Enid. She died August 21, 1999.

Surviving are one son, Don Dixon of McAlester; one daughter, Dalena Newell of Ashflat, Ark.; one brother, Floyd Dixon of San Diego; two sisters, Marie Richards of Burke, Va., and Irene Beltz of Willow Springs, Mo.; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren
