He is survived by his sisters, Betty and "Lou"; his brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Holly; his son and daughter-in-law, Curt and Cecilia; his daughter, Shannon; and his grandchildren, Cale, Connor, Lane, Hannah, and Noah.

Richard enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in San Diego from 1961-63.

After many years with Cain’s Coffee in Oklahoma City, he started Richard's Coffee Service in Enid in 1975. He operated this successful family business for 26 years and opened the first gourmet coffee shops in Enid in 1995.

Richard enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, traveling to Costa Rica, and being with his family.

He was a longtime member of the Grand National Quail Club, Elks Club, and Enid Chamber of Commerce.

He led a life of fun and adventures with a close-knit group of friends. Affectionately known as “"Papa Rich" to all, Richard was an avid OU football fan and shared many happy times watching sports and sharing meals with his children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends.

He was quick-witted, just a "little" mischievous, and loved music. He lived through many challenges and was a true fighter to the end.

Richard's family would like to acknowledge the many loving caretakers and neighbors who went above and beyond to treat Richard like family.
