© Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma March 20, 1916 ~ January 31, 2008 The funeral for Elvin Charley Crites Sr., 91, of Enid will be 10 a.m. Monday at Central Assembly of God Church. The Revs Kevin Ward and Garvie Schmidt will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. He was born March 20, 1916, in Goltry to Charley and Stella Adamson Crites and died Thursday, January 31, 2008, in Enid. He married Rachel Mary Smith August 6, 1944, in Enid. He worked at Swift's and Champlin Refinery. He had been a member of Central Assembly of God since 1945. Surviving are his children, Elvin C. Crites Jr of Nash, Mary Ruth Smith of Broken Arrow and Dianne Rae Olson of Enid; one sister, Elsie Canfield of Honeyville, Utah; nine grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Rachel Mary, he was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother. |
© Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma October 24. 2014 1935 ~ October 13, 2014 Carole Lee Marquis Crites of Venice, Fla., passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 13, 2014. She was born in Enid, Okla., in 1935, to the parents of Frank and Hazel Marquis. She is survived by her brother, Frank Marquis, Jr. of McAllen, Texas; her son, Mark Crites and wife, Chris; and her daughter, Lucinda Crites Cash and husband, David. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Madeline Crites, James Crites, Lauren Cash and Cameryn Cash. Carole was successful in life and business and had a passion for music. She earned a master’s degree in clinical psychology from Oklahoma State University and worked for the Oklahoma State Health Department for 10 years, helping troubled children and young adults. After moving to Florida in 1989, she was employed by Edward Jones and opened an office in downtown Venice, where she built a successful business over a 17-year period. As a financial adviser, she loved helping her clients and meeting new people throughout this period of her life. As an accomplished singer and pianist, Carole spent many years entertaining people with her music. Her love for jazz and blues led her to form an all-female band during her college years, where she played in local clubs performing and playing the music she loved. She carried this passion and perfect pitch through life and never lost her love for singing and playing her piano. She passed her musical talent and passion on to her children and grandchildren. Carole loved life but loved her family most of all. She will be missed. A service will be held at Memorial Park in Enid, Okla.,on Nov. 1 at 10 a.m. to celebrate her life and lay her to rest next to her beloved parents. Submitted by Family |
