Services are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Eldon was born August 3, 1929, to Roy J. and Beulah Wells Craig on his Great-Grandmother Riggs' farm. He was raised west of Enid on the farm his grandfather purchased in 1908, where he spent his life. Eldon and Aletha Morgan were married November 18, 1951, and celebrated 69 wonderful years. He was a farmer, dairyman, and cowboy first. Eldon and Aletha raised four children on this farm. He was active in rodeos, trail rides, team sorting and mostly any horse activity. At the young age of 78, he participated in in the month-long Centennial Cattle Drive for the 100th anniversary of statehood. It followed the Chisholm Trail from Texas to Kansas. This was the longest of three cattle drives in which he participated. In 1964, Eldon crossed the Continental Divide in Colorado riding a great horse named "Reno." He farmed and ranched until he retired to care for the Love of his life. He was a generous man, ready to help a neighbor in need. Mom and Dad, the cut couple, always loved a good dance. He was a member of the Cherokee Strip Round-Up Club, Cowboy Church, First United Methodist Church and served on the Great Plains Cooperative Board. © Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma November 27, 1931 ~ January 2, 2022 A Celebration of Life for Aletha Craig will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 7, 2022, in the Ladusau-Evans Chapel, with Rev Gail Edmison officiating. Aletha was born November 27, 1931, in Salina, Oklahoma, to Oscar B. and Thelma Grey Morgan and passed away January 2, 2022, in Enid. She graduated from Drummond High School. Following graduation, Eldon and Aletha were acquainted through siblings, which resulted in 69 wonderful years of marriage. They were married on November 18, 1951. They farmed, ranched and ran a dairy, all while raising four children, southwest of Enid. Later in life, Aletha worked at England's Clothing and Oklahoma Floral. She was the woman recipient of the 1969 Garfield County Agricultural Hall of Fame. Aletha also received the 1998 Garfield County Heart of Family and Community Education Award. As a sixty-five year member of Imo Neighbors OHCE Club, she held every club office multiple times. She held many county OHCE offices, including president, and served on state committees. Aletha taught tailoring and sewing classes through the OHCE county office. Judging county fairs extensively throughout N.W. and Central Oklahoma was a passion of hers. She participated in various capacities with the Garfield County Fair as a participant and as a superintendent. For many years, Aletha served on the Garfield County election board. She volunteered for many local agricultural organizations, 4-H leader, FFA supporter and was a member of Rural Rotary. Aletha was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Cowboy Church. Aletha's thoughts and kind gestures demonstrated her love of family, friends, neighbors, and life. No sewing tasks were too small, large, simple or complicated for such an accomplished seamstress. She loved having her children, grandchildren and extended family and friends participate in the daily activities of life on the farm. Her chocolate chip cookies and Harvest meat sandwiches were always in demand. She could sling a bale of hay, milk a cow, wring a chicken's neck, and deliver the first load of wheat to the elevator. As a dedicated sports fan and supporter of her children and grandchildren, attending events was a grand pleasure. During Eldon and Aletha's 69 years of marriage, they square-danced, two-stepped, rodeoed, and enjoyed horse and buggy rides in local parades. Aletha is survived by her daughter, Joyce [Everett] Hildebrand; sons, Dennis [Sharon] Craig, James Craig, all of Enid, David [Lizann] Craig of Okarche; grandchildren, Kyle, Michael, Chase, Maddie, Austin and Mallory; and seven great grandchildren; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
