Funeral service for Mrs. Carl L. (Dorothea) Collins, 57, has been set for 4 PM Saturday in the Henninger – Allen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul H. Tripp officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Collins died Thursday in a Temple, Texas hospital following an illness of several weeks.

She was born in Dustin, Oklahoma, April 28, 1912, and lived in the Dustin and Allen communities while growing up.

She attended OCW at Chickasha and East Central State College. She graduated from South Eastern State Teachers College with a B. S. Degree in elementary and commercial education.

Mrs. Collins was married to Carl L. Collins in Pryor on April 22, 1936. They established their home in Wetumpka where she taught for seven years before moving to Enid in 1941. Mrs. Collins substituted in Enid schools for several years before accepting a teaching position at McKinley Grade School in 1950. She taught 19 years there including second, third and fourth grades.

She was a member of the Trinity Methodist Church, Iota Bridge Club, NEA, OEA, EEA, and past president of the F. E. W. Club.

Survivors include her husband, Carl L., of the home at 1507 Quanah; a son, Capt. Carl Collins, El Paso; one sister, Mrs. Beatrice Pope, Oklahoma City; three brothers, Roy Melton, San Antonio, Texas, Bill Melton, Maysville, and Leon Melton, Odessa, Texas, several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister in infancy.
