© Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma July 1971 December 30, 1885 ~ July 8, 1971 Mrs. Hazel Cockrell, 85, 1310 E. Main, died Thursday morning in a local hospital. Born December 30, 1885, in Bluff City, Kansas, she came to Oklahoma with her parents at an early age, settling a claim near Helena. She married John Cockrell May 15, 1904, at Anthony, Kansas, and they came to Enid in 1913 and had made their home here since. Mrs Cockrell was a member of the First Wesleyan Church. She is survived by two sons, Rev Glenn Cockrell, Marion, Indiana, and Russell Cockrell, Enid; three daughters, Mrs. Marion [Irene] Bess, Kansas City, Kansas, Mrs. Clyde [Helen] Jobe and Mrs Jim [Enid] Walldroupe, both of Enid; 13 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Her husband, two brothers, one sister and one granddaughter preceded her in death. Funeral services will be at 10 AM Monday in the First Wesleyan Church with Rev W. C. Brannon officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Allen Funeral Home. |
© Enid Morning News Enid, Oklahoma April 1997 January 10, 1915 ~ April 24, 1997 Funeral services for Russell L. Cockrell, 82, of Enid, will be at 10 AM Monday in the Henninger-Allen Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Tony Crispo and Rev Steve McClaren officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Russell was born on January 10, 1915, in Enid to John Carl and Edna Hazel Robertson Cockrell. On Thursday, a true 24, 1997, Russell died at the Methodist Golden Age Home. On April 4, 1937, Russell married the former Helen Earhart in Enid. This month they had celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. With the help of his wife, Russell established Cockrell Sheet Metal in 1947. He retired due to health in 1987. Russell is survived by his wife, Helen, of the home, two daughters, Catherine Bray and Jeannie Buzitta and their spouses of Enid, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren, one brother, Glenn cockrell of Marion, Indiana; two sisters, Irene Bess, of Brooksville, Florida, and Enid Waldroupe of Ft. Ritchie, Florida. Russell was preceded in death by his daughter Karen Shipley and one sister, Helen Jobe. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Alzheimer's Division. |
