Funeral services for Bert Clampitt will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Garland Road Baptist Church with Pastor Billy Benson officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Dr. Bert Clampitt was born February 18, 1928 in Enid, Oklahoma, and passed away March 28, 2021. He graduated from Enid High School in 1946, and went to get a degree in Chemistry from Oklahoma University in 1950. He then attended Iowa State University where he received his PHD in Physical Chemistry in 1954. Following graduation, he worked at Oak Ridge National Laboratory for a number of years, where he did research on the atomic bomb. After that he changed careers, and went into plastic research for Gulf Oil Corp. and Pennzoil. In that field he was issued more than 60 patents.

He married Betty Phillips in 1953, and to that marriage were born two sons and a daughter. Dr. Phillip Clampitt and his wife Laurey, who is a professor at the University of Wisconsin in Green Bay, Wisconsin; Dr. Van Clampitt and his wife Karen who is a physician in Marion, Virginia; and Pamela and her husband Dr. David Vandewalker, who is the Director of Music, at a church in Marietta, Georgia; 4 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren.

Bert is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Betty Ann Phillips Clampitt.

In 2003, Bert returned to Enid and married Susan Sayers. She has been a wonderful wife, companion, and prayer partner in these years since his retirement from research. Church, chemistry, and his family were his primary interests throughout his life.

Memorial donations can be made to Garland Road Baptist Church or the Enid Symphony, with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodian of the funds.
