Clinton A. Champion, 73, of Enid, died Monday evening, July 26, 1993 at Highland Park Manor. He was born in Minnesota, then moved to Fairview with his parents as a young boy and graduated from Fairview high school. He married the former Glenda Ruth Watson in Woodward September 27, 1941. Following his marriage he enlisted in the US Coast Guard in 1942. He served in the Asiatic and Pacific theater of operations and other Coast Guard stations. After his discharge in 1945 he lived in various cities in Kansas and Oklahoma before moving to Enid in 1960. While in Enid he owned several service stations before he retired.

He is survived by two daughters, Sharon and her husband Russell "Bud" Peterson and Diana and her husband David Hay both of Enid. One son Ronald and his wife Vickie of Hominy, five grandsons, two granddaughters and two great-granddaughters. Also surviving him are his mother, Eva Champion, Lyons, New York and a sister Dorothy Maslyn, Zephyr Hills, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer J. And a brother, Clayton.

His wife, Glenda, preceded him in death January 20, 1993.

Graveside services will be Saturday at 10 AM in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Melvin Duncan officiating with Henninger – Allen Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Heart Division through the funeral home in memory of his late wife Glenda.

Funeral services for Glenda Ruth Watson Champion, 71, will be at 2 PM Saturday in the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. David DeVore officiating. The burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Henninger – Allen Funeral Home. The casket will not be opened at the church. Mrs. Champion died in Presbyterian hospital, Oklahoma city, early Wednesday morning, January 20, 1993.

She was born March 7, 1921 in Helena, the daughter of Carl and Esther Rector Watson. Glenda was raised in Aline and graduated from Aline high school with the class of 1939. She then attended Wesley Hospital School of Nursing in Oklahoma City.

Glenda married Clinton A. Champion, September 22, 1941 in Woodward. She made their home in Aline until after World War II. The family moved to Enid from Wichita, Kansas in 1960.

Mrs. Champion was a nurse for doctors R. D. Shuttee, William H. Simon, John E. Provine, and Michael J. O'Quinn for more than 30 years at Northwest Pediatrics. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include: husband, Clinton, of the home; one son, Ronald and his wife Vicki, of Hominy; two daughters, Diana and her husband David Hay, and Sharon and her husband Russell (Bud) Peterson, both of Enid; five grandsons, two granddaughters, two great – granddaughters; one sister, Clara and her husband Jack Elkins, Vian Oklahoma.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Heart Division, of the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
