HUNTER — The funeral for Robbie Carter, 91, of Hunter, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at Anderson - Burris Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Marvin Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with family and friends will be Monday from 6-7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Robbie was born to Charles Thomas and Ada Leverne (Rogers) Venable on March 10, 1919, in Tilton, Arkansas, and died Wednesday, December 29, 2010, in Enid.

She grew up in Enid, moving to Arkansas in 1935. On September 2, 1939, she married Juett Carter, returning to Enid in 1956. Robbie was a supervisor at Enid State School from 1963 to 1981, when she retired. She did embroidery work and was an avid quilter, sewing all her quilts by hand. Robbie enjoyed traveling, taking her first plane trip at the age of 73, and she loved every minute of it.

Robbie is survived by son Hershel Carter and wife Mary of Enid; daughter Robbie Kleese and husband John of Hunter; 8 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; brother Thomas Venable and wife Sharon of Wichita, KS; two sisters, Betty Jean Smith and husband Clinton of Surprise, Arizona, and Barbara Joyce Montgomery and husband C.D. of Grand Junction, Colorado; and sister-in-law Lois Venable of Enid.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Juett; son Lyndle; parents; three brothers; and one grandson.
