April 27, 1950 - August 15, 2019

The funeral service for Joyce Elizabeth Byrd will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 23, 2019 at Henninger~Hinson Funeral Home with Reverend Bob Cheek and Reverend Jim Lang officiating. A private family burial will precede the service in Memorial Park Cemetery. Viewing will be held 8:00am - 8:00pm Wednesday and Thursday at the funeral home.

Joyce was born April 27, 1950 in Artesia, NM to Charles Thomas and Mildred Elizabeth (Adams) Long and went to be with her Lord and Savior August 15, 2019 at her home in Enid.

She graduated Artesia High School in 1968, later that same year Joyce married the love of her life Wesley Dee Byrd. She then attended Arlington Baptist University where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Education. The couple lived in TX, LA and NM; before moving to Enid in 1981 and making it their home.

Joyce was a long time member of Bethel Baptist Church where she served as a Preacher's Wife, Sunday School Teacher and Mentor for many. She also taught K-12 at Bethel Baptist Academy where she touched so many young lives over the years.

She was an UNO card-shark, and Jeopardy & Wheel of Fortune whiz. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting; reading books of all genres and most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Wesley of Enid; children, Brian Byrd and wife, Amy of Cibolo, TX; Betsy Randolph and husband, George of Guthrie; Brent Byrd and wife, Jennifer of Enid; grandchildren, John Byrd and fiancé, Amanda Hackett; Robert Byrd; Bronson Randolph and wife, Kiara; Whitney Sanders and husband, Gus; Kelsey Byrd and Alyssa Link; great-grandchildren, Jacob Randolph; Cannon Sanders; Meadow Sanders and Garrett Elliott; brothers, Joe Tom Long; Charlie Long and Eddie Long; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Rita Leachman and brother, Jerry Long.

Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church where she served for 37 years.
