October 22, 1931 - September 14, 2019

Funeral services for Velden A. Butterfield, 87, will be Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at 2:00 pm in Central Assembly of God Church with Reverend Josh Cosby officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be Monday evening from 6:30 to 7:30 pm at the funeral home.

Velden Butterfield was born October 22, 1931 in Bloomington, Nebraska to Dewey and Goldie Butterfield. He grew up in the area and graduated from Naponee High School. He married Mildred Matheson on June 3, 1951. They have four children. Rev. Larry Butterfield and wife Chris of Naponee, NE. Patricia Regier and husband Elton of Cleo Springs, OK. David Butterfield and wife Karen of Winter Haven, FL. Rev. Donald Butterfield and wife Cathy of Belton, MO. They have nine Grandchildren: Tashia Butterfield, Nathanel Butterfield and wife Noelani, Jacob Regier, and wife Cindy, Micah Regier and wife Amber, Tifany Butterfield, Shane Butterfield, Matthew Butterfield and wife Hannah, Rev. Nathan Butterfield and wife Alexis, and Joel Butterfield. They have thirteen great grandchildren.

Velden worked as a printer for newspapers and printshops. After he retired, he drove a school bus for 20 years. Velden was active in church where he has served as usher, song leader, Sunday School Superintendent, Board Member and Small Group Leader. He was a good man who loved the Lord and his family.

He was predeceased by his parents; his sister-in-law Evelyn Butterfield; brothers-in-law LeRoy Wach, Tom Guennewig, Richard Matheson; and granddaughter-in-law Kara Regier. He is survived by his wife of the home, his brother Raymond Butterfield and sister Dorothy Gordon and husband Arlo, sisters-in-law Margaret Lou Wach and Barbara Guennewig and his children and grandchildren.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Central Assembly of God Church library.
