Phyllis Ann [Collier] Buss
September 3, 1941 ~ January 10, 2008


Phyllis Ann [Collier] Buss, age 66, of Hunter passed away January 10, 2008, at her home after a long battle with Alzheimer's.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, January 14, 2008, at the Hunter Christian Church, Hunter. The Reverends Don Johnson and Steve Meier will be officiating.

Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Enid. Arrangements are under the direction of Laduasu-Evans Funeral Home.

Phyllis was born September 3, 1941, in Elk City to Harley C. and Ruth [Peter] Collier.

She lived in Covington during her grade school years and moved to Hunter where she graduated in 1959.

There she met her husband, Earl Buss, and they married December 27, 1960. They were married 38 years before he passed away in October of 1999.

She attended and graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1963, with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She later went back to get her Master's Degree in Special Education from Oklahoma State University.

She taught in Enid at Harrison Elementary from 1963-1966. She then taught the remainder of her 35 years of teaching in the Hunter and later Pond Creek-Hunter school systems until she retired in 1998.

She was a member of the Hunter Christian Church where she served as a Deaconess and loved to sing in the choir.

She was also a lifetime member of the O.E.A. and N.E.A. She served as president of the Gelbvieh Gals Cattle Association. She volunteered for various activities that revolved around agriculture or sports activities during the school year including being a cheerleading sponsor a couple of years.

She enjoyed working with kids, had fond memories of every student she taught and would often tell of how she taught a parent and child and how special that was to her.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents. She leaves behind her son, Steve Buss and wife, Donna, of Hunter; her daughter, Sherri Hooker and husband, Chris, of Enid; grandchildren Audrey, Caitlin and Cody; sister, Norma [Jody] Collier, of Edmond; in-laws, Merle, Karen, Ed, Linda, Dennis and Valerie Buss; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation - Alzheimer's Division with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home as custodian of the funds.

Funeral services for Earl O. Buss, age 58 of Hunter will be 2 PM Thursday at Hunter First Christian Church with Rev Don Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

He was born November 26, 1940 in Enid to Roy and Bernice Johnson Buss and died Sunday in St Mary's Mercy Hospital following a sudden illness.

He was raised in the Hunter community where he attended and graduated from Hunter High School in 1959. He then attended O.S.U.

He married Phyllis Collier in Hunter December 27, 1960.

He was a member of Hunter First Christian Church where he was past Board Chairman and also was an Elder.

He was a Jr Master Farmer and Past President of the State and National Gelbvieh Association. In January 1999 he was inducted in the National Gelbvieh Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Hunter Young Farmers, and past member of Hunter Lions Club.

Survivors include his wife Phyllis of the home, one son, Steve and his wife Hiedi Buss of Hunter, one daughter, Sherri Buss of Dallas, Texas, two granddaughters, Audrey and Caitlin both of Hunter, and his father, Roy Buss of Enid. Also surviving are three brothers, Dennis Buss of Tonkawa, Edwin Buss of Seminole, and Burrell Buss of Shawnee.

He was preceded in death by his mother Bernice Buss.

Memorials may be made through the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home to the Pond Creek Hunter Young Farmers.

Stephen Earl "Steve" Buss
June 19, 1963 ~ April 3, 2020


"Out of love and safety for the health of our family and friends, the Stephen Buss family will save our visitation, hugs, and personal greetings for you when a Celebration of Life is held in the future. Thank you for your prayers."

A private immediate family service for Stephen Earl Buss, age 56 of Hunter will be Tuesday at Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev Don Johnson officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Stephen was born June 19, 1963, in Enid to Earl O. and Phyllis A. [Collier] Buss and passed away Friday, April 3, 2020, at his home that he shares with his wife, Donna [Willowby], and son, Cody.

He started school as a Hunter Bulldog and graduated high school as a Pond Creek-Hunter Panther in 1981. While in school, he was very active with many school activities, including band, football and his passion for FFA.

He won State Star Farmer and the American Farmer Awards. He also participated in rodeos and later team pinning with his buddies.

Steve graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science.

He farmed alongside his father and grandfather for many years. The family business was heavily involved in breeding Gelbvieh cattle where he was nominated as the first Jr President of the Gelbvieh Association.

He met his first wife, Hiedi Thomas, at a livestock show and they married in 1983. They had 2 children, Audrey Nicole and Caitlin Michelle, the absolute loves of his life.

He later married, Donna in 2006 and lived on the family farm.

He worked for Farmers Grain in Pond Creek as a spray rig applicator since 2006. He was a member of the Hunter Christian Church and also has served as the Mayor of Hunter.

Because of his passion for showing livestock, he enjoyed being a member of the Young Farmers of Pond Creek. He also took great pride in helping his kids and grandkids raise and show their own animals. He was also quick to help anyone in the barn.

Many of his friends and family knew him as Papa Steve. All who knew him would agree he was a happy soul. He took great comfort in his relationship with God and passed that on to his children.

He is survived by his wife, Donna, daughters; Audrey McDaniel (Buck) and their daughter, Georgia of Lahoma, Caitlin Merriott (Bryan) and their two children, Hadlee and Brody of Pond Creek, son, Cody Buss, sister, Sherri Hooker (Chris) of Enid and numerous family members.

He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
