Enid, Oklahoma March 1963 December 24, 1861 ~ March 4, 1963 Mrs. Mary E. Burton, 101-year-old mother and grandmother who lived with her daughter, Mrs Charles E. Dale, 406 W. Elm died Monday morning at her home. Funeral services are pending with Brown Funeral Home in charge. Born in Pulaski, KY, she came to Enid in 1908 from Fredonia, Kansas, where she had lived since she was 25. She also leaves a son, Dean Burton, Neodesha, Kansas; five grandchildren and several great great grandchildren. She was a member of Central Christian Church. |

© Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma Apeil 9, 2011 July 31, 1930 ~ April 8, 2011 ENID - A private family graveside service for Marvene Burton, 80, will be Tuesday, April 12, 2011, in Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr Neal Prock officiating. Arrangements are by Anderson - Burris Funeral Home. Marvene was born to Marvin and Bertha [Ferguson] Butler on July 31, 1930, in Williams, Okla., and died Friday, April 8, 2011, in Enid. Marvene grew up and attended school in Panama, graduating from Panama High School in 1948. On September 4, 1948, she married James Robert Burton in Van Buren, Ark. They made their home in Oklahoma City until moving to Enid in 1968. Marvene's priorities in life were her faith in God and her family. She was generous with her family and friends, loved interior decorating and took great pride in her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by daughter, Janet McGinnis of Enid; three grandchildren, Melissa McGinnis of Edmond, Annie Davis and husband Chad of League City, Texas, and Nicholas Burton and wife Candice of Durant; and six great-grandchildren. Marvene was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Burton, and son Nick Burton. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial donation be made to Central Assembly of God Church, Enid. The Rev Neal Prock will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. He was born February 5, 1952, in Oklahoma City to James Robert "Bob" and Marvene Butler Burton and died Friday, February 9, 2007, in Enid. He graduated from Enid High School in 1970. He worked for his father in Hennessey for 28 years at Independent Service Co. For the last five years, he was employed by Longhorn Service/PPS in Fairview. He married Karen Johnson July 25, 1981, in Enid. Surviving are his wife Karen; nine children, Andrea Burton Davis of Round Hill, Va., Nicholas Burton of Durant, Ronnie Decker of Enid, Rhonda Decker of Altus, Toby Smith of Enid; and Kayla, Tasha, Kara, and Patti Burton, all of the home; his mother, Marvene Burton; one sister, Janet McGinnis of Enid; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, James Robert Burton. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Nick Burton’s Children’s Fund.
