A Celebration of Life service for Derek B. Burnett, age 23 years, of Edmond, formerly of Enid, are 10:00 am, Friday, February 5, 2016 at Calvary Baptist Church, Enid, OK., with Reverend Steve Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Family will receive friends at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home on Thursday, February 4, 2016 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Derek was born April 8, 1992 in Enid to Robert Burnett and Teresa (Patton) Burnett and he passed away Sunday, January 31, 2016 in Oklahoma City, Ok.

He attended Chisholm Public Schools graduating with the class of 2011. Derek enjoyed sports and played football and ran track. After graduating from high school, he attended the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond pursuing a degree in Management Information Systems. Derek enjoyed fast cars, spending time with his family and friends, and especially his cat Wade. Derek was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Enid and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at a young age.

Derek is survived by his parents, Robert and Teresa, of the home in Enid; a brother, Blake Burnett, of Bakersfield, California; maternal grandparents, Richard and Jalene Patton, of Enid; three uncles, Rick Patton and wife Emily, of Enid; Joe Burnett and Jeff Burnett, both of Enid; an aunt, Kimberly Smith and husband Kyle, of Enid; as well as several cousins and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Joe Burnett and Edith Roberts.

Memorials in Derek’s name may be made to the Enid SPCA with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
