Graveside services for Loren D. Burke, 77, who died early Friday in a local hospital after an apparent heart attack, will be at 2 PM Sunday in Memorial Park Cemetery. Dr. Lloyd H. Lambert, senior minister at Central Christian Church, will officiate. Arrangements are by Henninger – Allen Funeral Home.

The casket will be open at the funeral home until 1:30 PM Sunday.

Burke was born June 18, 1907, at Atica, Kansas, and as a child moved with his parents to Perry where he attended schools. He and And Vera L. Medlock were married February 7, 1932, at Guthrie.

Burke was employed by Safeway as market manager in Guthrie and Oklahoma City before moving to Enid in July 1949. He leased a meat market at 307 E. Maine and later at Kenwood Boulevard before his retirement in July 1968.

Burke served in the United States Army, attached to the 5th Air Force during World War I I. He also served two years in the Southwest Pacific Theater of Operations, and was a member of the American legion, Argonne Post No. 4.

Survivors include his wife, Vera, of the home; and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Memorials in his name may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Heart Division, with the funeral home serving as custodian of the funds.
