The funeral for Evert F. Burdick, 81-year-old Enid resident, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015, at Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Service is under direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

Evert was born March 6, 1933, to Jesse L. and Maude E. (Koch) Burdick in Enid and died Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at his home in Enid.

Evert attended Harrison Grade School and Longfellow Junior High and graduated from Enid High School, where he was all-state in baseball, with the class of 1951.

In 1950, Evert married Mary Alice Caldwell, and to this union, four children were born: Michael, Johanna, Kathryn and Greg.

He worked for seismograph crews as a driller. In 1958, he was employed by George E. Failing Co. He retired after 37 years of service.

Evert loved his family. He enjoyed fishing and coaching little league football. Most of all, he loved Enid and the people who live here. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, three sisters and one son-in-law.

Evert is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary; sons, Mike Burdick and wife Donna of Broken Arrow, Greg Burdick and wife Karen of Owasso; daughters, Johanna Schmidt and husband Daryl of Fair Oaks, Penn., Kathy Shellady and special friend Peter Birkenfelder of Enid; granddaughters, Sarah Mae Burdick, Jennifer Koehl and husband Andy, Jessica Lasko and husband Mike, Jill Schmidt, Mary Prather and husband Brian, Candace Lopez and husband Mickey; grandsons, Christopher Burdick, Matthew Schmidt and wife Erica, Jayson Shellady and wife Christi, Brandon Shellady and wife Toni, Jeremy Shellady, Brent Burdick and wife Amy; as well as 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations can be given through the funeral home to charity of donor’s choice.
