William Edward Burchfield
April 21, 1922 ~ March 11, 2010


The funeral for William Edward Burchfield, 87, will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 15, 2010, at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev Roy Schneider officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemtery with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Military honors will be conducted by Silver Talon Honor Guard.

He was born to William Cody and Olive L. [Weibel] Burchfield April 21, 1922, in Enid and died Thursday, March 11, 2010, at St Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Enid.

William grew up in Enid and graduated from Enid High School in 1940. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II.

On April 23, 1943, he married Juanita Dell Burcham in Garden City, Kan., and they made their home in Enid.

Bill worked in retail sales for Weibel and Meadow Gold dairies. He then was a salesman for Prudential Insurance CO for 28 years. He was a school bus driver for Enid Public Schools for 12 years, and a volunteer at St Mary's Regional Medical Center for 15 years, with more than 4,500 hours.

Bill was a lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church, where he was a deacon for five years and an elder for 12 years. He was the chairman of the steering committee for Chapter III Senior Adult Ministry.

His hobbies were woodworking, golf, fishing and Sooner football. Bill also was a member of American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Juanita, of the home; son, Brian Burchfield and his wife Rose of Chipita Park, Colo.; daughter, Joy Pittman and her husband Wayne of Albuquerque, N.M.; grandchildren, Jared Burchfield and Adam Pittman; a nephew, Jim Davis and his wife Polly of Tulsa; and numerous cousins and other relatives.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Sharon Ann, and sister, Mildred Dorothy Davis.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to First Presbyterian Church or St Mary’s Volunteer Memorial Fund.
