February 14, 1930 - July 13, 2020

We will be celebrating the life of Vera Sue (Baker) Bunch, 90, of Enid, at a graveside service only, 10:00am, Thursday, July 16, 2020, at Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home of Enid. Viewing will be available from 8:00am until 8:00pm Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at the funeral home. Vera Sue passed away Monday, July 13, 2020, at Greenbrier Nursing Home. Reverend Tom Stanley, Sr. Minister of Central Christian Church, will officiate.

She was born on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1930, to Ernest R. and Violette E. Baker in the family farm house which sat near the location of where the west gate of Vance AFB now sits - now known as The Baker Gate. She was the youngest of seven children.

When Vera Sue was eleven years old, the family moved into town because the Enid Army Air Base was already under construction on the family farm land. She attended Emerson Junior High, and since Enid High School had burned down, she finished high school at Longfellow.

After nurse's training at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, she married Frank Henry Bunch, also of Enid, on December 18, 1949. They had two children, Frank Henry Bunch, Jr., born in October of 1950, and Deanna Sue Bunch, born in November of 1953. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this past December.

Over the years, Vera Sue worked in nursing and in the automotive industry, but mostly as a homemaker which was her favorite occupation. She and Frank loved camping, boating, and waterskiing, as well as many years of square dancing in several different dance clubs. They also enjoyed many miles of traveling together in their motorhome.

Vera Sue was preceded in death by her parents; son, Frank, Jr.; siblings, Zella Fairleigh, Ralph Baker, Ernestine Malden, and two infant brothers, Lavern and Duane.

Survivors include her husband Frank; daughter, Deanna; sister, Mary Ruth Cooper; sister-in-law, Catherine Schalk, all of Enid and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be given to Central Christian Church of Enid with Henninger-Hinson acting as custodian of the fund.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the many caring individuals at Greenbrier Nursing Home for taking such wonderful care of Vera Sue for the last four years.

We will be celebrating the life of Frank Henry Bunch, 90, of Enid, at a graveside service only, at 2:00pm, Wednesday, February 24, 2021, in the Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum. Services are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home of Enid.

Frank passed away early Friday morning, from natural causes, on February 19, 2021, at Greenbrier Nursing Home. Reverend Tom Stanley, Senior Minister of Central Christian Church, will officiate. Viewing will be 8:00am to 8:00pm on Tuesday, February 23, at the funeral home.

Frank was born October 15, 1930, at Villa Madonna Hospital in Enid, to George Lee and Marjorie Olga (Sayward) Bunch. Frank attended Enid public schools and was a member of the Enid High School class of 1948, the first class to attend EHS after it burned down in the early 1940's.

Frank worked alongside his dad where he learned his trade of being a plumber. He carried on his dad's business, Bunch Plumbing Company, for many years.

Frank joined the National Guard in 1947. His unit was deployed to Woodward after the terrible tornado in 1947. In 1950, Frank's unit was deployed to Korea. Sailing through the Panama Canal, his unit went first to Japan and on to Korea, where he served as chief of an artillery unit and was awarded several medals for his service, including the Army Occupation Medal (Japan), Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Star and the UN Service Medal. In 1953, his unit returned to Fort Sill, OK, where he returned to National Guard status. He continued his military career in the National Guard until his retirement date of October 15, 1990.

Just before going to Korea, Frank married his Enid High School sweetheart, Vera Sue Baker, on December 18, 1949. They had two children, Frank (Frankie) Henry Bunch, Jr, born September 6, 1950, and Deanna Sue Bunch, born November 12, 1953. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary December 18, 2019, before Vera Sue passed away on July 13, 2020.

Frank and Vera Sue loved camping, boating, and waterskiing, as well as many years of square dancing in several different dance clubs. They enjoyed many miles of traveling together in their motorhomes and campers, including one he converted from an old school bus. Frank was appreciated for his great patience in taking his nephews and nieces waterskiing for hours on end.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vera Sue; son, Frankie; and sister, Jean Lisi. Survivors include his daughter, Deanna; sister, Catherine Schalk; sister-in-law, Mary Ruth Cooper, all of Enid; and numerous nephews and nieces.
