ENID, OK - The celebration of life for Betty Ruth Buckley, 83-year-old Enid resident, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at Salvation Army Chapel. Pastor Ernie Hull will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

Betty was born December 29, 1929, in Winfield, Kansas, to George and Goldie (Thomason) Moore and went home to be with Jesus Friday, August 30, 2013, in her home surrounded by her family. She attended Ames schools and graduated from Ames High School. She then attended college in Weatherford, Oklahoma.

On March 17, 1951, she married Thomas Buckley. The couple made their first home in Clinton. They moved to Enid in 1952. She raised eight children and made a home for them.

She later volunteered at Salvation Army Thrift Store. She was a longtime soldier of Salvation Army. She also was a member of Home League.

She enjoyed playing bingo, watching her OSU Cowboys football and Thunder basketball, and Christmas was her favorite holiday.

She is survived by her eight children, Burl (Teri) Turner, Lou Weidner and husband Roy, Erlene Peterman and husband Roger, Adeline Carlton and husband David, Tom Buckley, Wayne Buckley, Jessie Buckley and wife Mary, and Colene Bowman and husband Roger; grandchildren, Eric, Darlene, Ronnie, Jesse, Goldie, Edwina, Darin, Robin, Amber, Brianna, Cassie, Kris, Eric and Jamie; and 34 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Tom, her grandson Ryon, and son-in-law Eddie Turner. She was grandma and Aunt Betty to hundreds of children who passed through her door to be spoiled by her.
