Graveside rites for William Thomas (Buck) Buchanan, former Enid resident, will be 11 AM Saturday at Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. Leslie G. Everitt officiating.

Buchanan died Tuesday in a Phoenix, Arizona, hospital following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be observed first in Arizona and the ashes will be returned to Enid for burial. Henninger – Allen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Buchanan came to Enid in 1930 from Michigan and was involved in the soda pop bottling industry here, owning the Dr. Pepper bottling company, and as partner with George Pat Ireland in 1940 in the Seven – Up bottling company.

He sold his interest in the business and went into investments.

Buchanan and his wife, Virginia went to Arizona for the winter six years ago when his health turned bad. They later moved to Mesa.

In Enid he was a member of the Rotary Club, the Greater Enid Chamber of Commerce and the First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia, of the home; three sons, William J. of Miami, Bradford L., William J. of Miami, Florida, Bradford L. of Altus; Robert of Seattle; two daughters, Mrs. Bruce (Beverly Ann) Dieterlan of Tulsa and Dianne Meyer of Switzerland, and a step – daughter, Dianne Newlin of Stillwater; a brother, two sisters and 16 grandchildren.

Contributions to the American Cancer Society are suggested by the family as a suitable memorial fund. For those who want to make contributions, the funeral home will act as custodian.

While in Enid for the services the family will stay in the home of Mrs. Joe Champlin.
