ENID — Gertrude Brune, 93, passed away Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011.

Gertrude Anna Rauh was born Oct. 4, 1918, to John Edmund Rauh and Caroline Keinath Rauh at the family home southeast of Alva, Okla.

She attended Pleasant Valley Grade School (1-7), Zion Lutheran School (8) and graduated from Horace Mann High School in 1935.

She married Elmer Brune Nov. 26, 1936, and they started life together on a farm south of Cherokee, along with Elmer's widowed father, Gerhard Julius Brune, who lived with them until his death in 1970. Gertrude attended Enid Business School and graduated in 1963.

They moved to the farm west of Enid in 1944, where she became active in the community through her home demonstration club, 4-H and Lutheran women's organizations. After a career of homemaking and a farming partnership with Elmer, along with an in- home wedding cake business, Gertrude started work outside the home as a clerk typist at P-T Coupling Co. in 1963. She became sales manager in 1973 and retired in 1994.

She is survived by children, Gerhard John "G.J." and wife Marlene Brune, Paul and wife Ramona Brune, Delmer and wife Mary Brune, Carl Brune and Julia Burton; nine grandchildren, Andrea Wagganon, Jil Hopkins, Darren Brune, Phillip Brune, Quinton Brune, Sane Brune, Elizabeth Burton, Anna Wilcox and Aubrey Brune; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and cousin, Mickey Kletke.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; brother, Albert "Butch" Rauh; sisters, Mildred Rauh and Helen Hatfield; children, Caroline and John; and grandchild, Troy.

Gertrude requested that memorials be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Redeemer Lutheran Church Building Fund or a charity of donors choice. Condolences at www.andersonbur ris.com.

A memorial service will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1626 East Broadway Ave., at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, with Rev. Kenneth Wade and Rev. Scott Whittenburg officiating.
