OBITUARY

The funeral services for Glorene F. Breckenridge, 85-year-old Enid resident, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 3, 2006, at Henninger-Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Ted Kuschel will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

She was born June 12, 1920, on the family farm obtained in the Land Run, near Pond Creek and died Wednesday, May 31, 2006, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. She attended local schools and graduated from Pond Creek High School in 1938. She attended Oklahoma A&M; and then Northern Oklahoma College where she married her high school sweetheart, Keith Breckenridge on June 11, 1940. The couple made their home in Ponca City and Wichita, Kan. until he served in World War II.

After the war, the couple made their home on his family’s farm, also obtained in the Land Run near Pond Creek. They lived and farmed there for 35 years until retiring to Enid in 1983. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She also was a member of the Pond Creek Mom’s Club. She was a wonderful seamstress, cook and decorator.

She is survived by her husband, Keith, of the home; her son David and his wife Dena of Oklahoma City; son Dennis of Springfield, Mo.; daughter Cheryl Day of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Jim Reynolds of Odessa, Texas, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorials may be made to OMRF (Diabetes) division with the funeral home acting as custodians of the fund.

ENID, Okla. — Graveside service for Keith D. Breckenridge will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2014, in Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid, Okla., with the Rev. Marvin Reynolds officiating. Arrangements are by Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home, Enid.

Keith was born Jan. 14, 1919, and was raised on a farm southwest of Pond Creek.

During the Cherokee Strip Opening of 1892, his grandfather staked a claim after jumping off a train.

Keith graduated from Pond Creek High School and attended Northern Oklahoma Junior College in Tonkawa, where he distinguished himself as a member of both boxing teams and became a lifelong boxing fan.

He married his high school sweetheart, Glorene Faye Reynolds in 1940, and worked in aircraft manufacturing and assembly plants in Wichita and Ponca City.

He served in Europe during and after WWII. While stationed in Germany, he attended some of the Nuremberg trials.

He returned home to take over the farming until he and Glorene retired and moved to Enid. He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).

Keith and Glorene were longtime members of the Methodist Church in Pond Creek and later joined Emmanuel Baptist Church in Enid. He enjoyed singing bass in the church choir and was a member of quartets that sang at funerals in Pond Creek for many years.

Keith met his Lord at the age of 95, on Sunday, April 13, 2014.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Daisy; his brother, Shirley; his sisters, Donna and Thelma; and his wife of 65 years, Glorene.

Survivors include his sons, David (and wife Dena) of Oklahoma City, and Dennis of Parkville, Mo.; his daughter, Cheryl Day of Fort Collins, Colo.; six grandchildren, Lisa Patton of Broken Arrow, Lori Looper of Oklahoma City, Julie Marks of Edmond, Shelly Campbell and Brad of Kansas City, Mo., and Allison Brady of Fort Collins, Colo.; 14 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

The family would like to give special thanks to Centennial Hospice, the staff at Emeritus at The Village and Warr Acres Nursing Home in Oklahoma City.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Foundation of America and Emmanuel Baptist Church of Enid.
