Enid, Oklahoma February 15, 1972 October 27, 1915 ~ February 15, 1972 Ernest I. Boyington, son of Elmer I. and Lottie Newland Boyington, was born Oct 27, 1915 in Carrier, Garfield County, Oklahoma. He attended school in Carrier, OK. He married Bertha Field on July 16, 1935 in the First Baptist Church in Enid, OK. They lived in Carrier until moving to Enid in 1942. He worked for the W. B. Johnston Grain Company for a number of years and retired as elevator superintendent in 1967 due to ill health. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. An infant son, Jerry Earnest Boyington and a brother, William Eddie Boyington, predeceased him. Survivors include his wife, Bertha of the home; three daughters, Mrs Gene [Patricia] Richardson of Enid, Mrs Larry [Beverly] Guffey of Perryton, Texas, and Mrs Melvin [Cindy] Whitley of Enid; a son, Erlie Boyington of Enid; seven grandchildren; a half sister, Gladys Hatfield of Enid; a sister, Clyda Pearl Hixon and a brother, Clarence N. Boyington. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery on February 18, 1972 at 11 a.m. in Carrier, Garfield County, Oklahoma. On April 6, 1978 His remains were moved to Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid, Oklahoma near his wife. That same day, their infant son Jerry Ernest Boyington was moved to Memorial Park Cemetery as well. |
© Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma August 10, 2003 March 27, 1914 ~ August 9, 2003 Bertha Fields Boyington, 89, died Saturday morning August 9, 2003 in the Fairview Fellowship Home. A private family graveside service will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev Sherry Shaw officiating. Bertha was born March 27, 1914 in Lindsay, OK to Henry and Eula Lee Shaddix Fields. She graduated high school and married Earnest Boyington July 16, 1936 in Enid. They lived in Carrier, then moved to Enid in 1942. Bertha moved to the Fairview Fellowship Home on August 21, 2000. She was preceded in death by her husband Feb. 15, 1972; one infant son; one grand daughter; three brothers, two sisters; and one great grand son. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Enid. She is survived by three daughters, Patricia and her husband Ed Bartel of Longdale; Beverly and her husband Carl Carroll of Enid, Cindy and her husband Melvin Whitley of Enid; one son Earlie Boyington of OKC; 11 grand children; 30 great grand children and one great great grand son. |
© Enid Events Enid, Oklahoma February 1, 1940 Page 2, Section A, Column 4 January 5, 1940 ~ January 31, 1940 BOYINGTON - Jerry Ernest, the infant son of Mr and Mrs Ernest Boyington, Carrier, died Wednesday morning in an Enid hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon with Rev Reikow of carrier officiating. Burial will be in the Carrier cemetery. The baby was one month old. Survivors include a brother, Erlie Albert. Jerry and his father were moved from the Carrier cemetery to Memorial Park Cemetery, April 6, 1978. |
