Funeral services for Leon M. Bonnett, 72, 1725 E. Oak, will be conducted at 2 PM Thursday in the Henninger – Allen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sterling W. Williams and the Rev. Marvin F. Leven officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Elks Lodge will conduct the graveside rites.

Bonnett died early Tuesday morning after a short period of ill health. He was born September 2, 1901, on a farm north of Kremlin.

He attended the Wild Horse School, north of Kremlin, and in 1913 moved to Enid and attended schools here.

Bonnett was a partner in the Heads Shoes Store and later worked in the Booterie, which is now Oliver's. He managed Oliver's until his retirement in 1968.

On December 1, 1973, in Enid, he married Marie Davis. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Elks Lodge, which named him Elk of the year in 1973, and the Moose Lodge.

He was preceded in death by a former wife, Thelma, one brother and one sister.

Survivors include his wife, Marie, of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Stanford (Carolyn Kay) Earley, Enid; five grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Jack (Glenda M.) Oakley, Enid; one niece and one nephew.
