Chester Wayne "Chet" Boatright
November 10, 1941 ~ June 30, 2005


The funeral for Chester "Chet" Wayne Boatright, 63, of Enid, will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev Vernon Lee will officiate. A private family burial will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Chet was born to Henry "Nelson" and Vernice Clona Smith Boatright and died at his home in Enid.

He moved with his family to Enid in 1945 and graduated from Drummond High School in 1959.

He married Paula Ann Murray August 16, 1963, in Enid, where they made their home.

He worked at Vance Air Force Base for 44 years, coached girls softball, and gave fast-pitch pitching lessons for more than 27 years.

Surviving are his wife, Paula, of the home; three daughters, Shawna Stehr of New Orleans, La., Shannon Boatright of Oklahoma City and Amanda Boatright of Enid; two sisters, Bobbie Lemmons and Treva Dick, both of Enid; one brother, Dale Boatright of Billings; and three granddaughters.

Paula Ann [Murray] Boatright Sturgeon
February 1, 1948 ~ July 27, 2020


Paula Ann Murray Boatright Sturgeon, a lifelong Enid resident passed away July 27, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 1, 1948 to Vivian and Leroy Murray.

Paula married Chester Boatright on August 16, 1963, and were married until his passing in 2005. They had three daughters, Shawna Stehr, Shannon Boatright and Amanda Holt.

On January 3, 2013, Paula married Jerry Sturgeon and they lived happily together until her passing.

Paula was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was the rock of this family and took care of us all and will be deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vivian and Leroy Murray and husband, Chester Boatright.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Sturgeon; daughters, Shawna [Bill] Stehr, Shannon Boatright and Amanda [Sheldon] Holt; granddaughters, Rachel Moore, Drayden Robertson, and Bella Little; step granddaughter, Nikki Stehr and several extended family and friends.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice Circle of Love for all they do.
