Funeral services for Delmar Arlie Berkenbile, 89, of Hunter, will be Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, at 2 p.m. at the Hunter Christian Church with the Rev. Devon McAnally and Minister Lane Buckley officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid, under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. The family will be having a visitation Monday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Delmar was born on the family farm east of Hennessey on March 27, 1917, to Charles Oscar and Alma Elizabeth (Curry) Berkenbile and died on Feb. 23, 2007, in Enid, Okla.

He grew up on the same family farm at Hennessey and on Sept. 29, 1940, married Alta Mae Morris in Hennessey. They farmed southwest of Hennessey, east of Hennessey, Garber and Hunter area. They moved to the farm at Hunter in the Spring of 1950. He was a longtime member of the Hunter Christian Church, which he helped to build. He was a member of the Farmers Co-op, and organized the Cattle Club Buiding Fund at the Hunter Christian Church. Delmar was a proud hardworking farmer, devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He lived with high standards and morals that he left with his children and grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Leland and Hollis Berkenbile.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Alta Mae,of the home; six children, Joyce and husband, Meryle Young of Mt. Home, Idaho, Patricia and husband Walter Jenkins of Hunter, Lucretia and husband Gary Mills of Mansfield, Texas, Jaquita and husband Jerry Icenhower of Yukon, Okla., Dean and wife Karen Berkenbile of Hunter, and Chuck Berkenbile of Enid; one brother, Charles Vernon Berkenbile of Celina, Texas; three sisters, Irene States of Hennessey,Okla., Juanita Rogers of Dallas, Texas and Aleene Self of Hinton, Okla.; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hunter Christian Church Cattle Club Building Fund.

A Celebration of Life Service for Alta Mae Berkenbile, age 92, will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, August 16, 2012, at Central Christian Church, with Rev. Don Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Visitation with the family present will be Wednesday 6:00 – 7:30 PM at the funeral home.

Alta Mae Berkenbile was born May 23, 1920 the daughter of Lawrence W. and Estella I. (Nichols) Morris in Dover, and passed away Sunday, August 12, 2012, in Enid.

She attended school in Dover and Hennessey and grew up in Dover, Oklahoma.

She married Delmar Berkenbile Sept. 29, 1940. She was a co-worker with her husband on their farms near Hennessey, Garber and Hunter. In the spring of 1950, they moved to a farm in Hunter.

She was a longtime member of Hunter Christian Church, Mothers' Recreation Club, and volunteered as a "Cheery Cherry Lady" at Bass Hospital and a volunteer for St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. Alta Mae was a loving, hard-working Christian lady, and an excellent cook. The family wishes to express appreciation to Ross Hospice, Golden Oaks Skilled Nursing Staff, and Central Christian Church for their loving support of their mother.

Alta Mae is survived by her children: Joyce and Merle Young of Mt. Home, Idaho, Patricia and Walter Jenkins of Enid, Lucretia and Gary Mills of Mansfield, Texas, Jaquita and Jerry Icenhower of Yukon, Dean and Karen Berkenbile of Hunter, and Chuck and Trish Berkenbile of Haleyville, Alabama; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-granchildren; and loving pet, Monty.

She was preceded in death by her husband Delmar, her parents, two brothers, and two sisters.

Memorials may be made to Hunter Christian Church Building Fund.
