Graveside services for Wayne E. Bentley were held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid with the Rev. Mike Jared officiating. Arrangements were by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home of Enid.

BWayne entley, age 70, died Sunday, October 1, 1995 in an Edmond hospital, following a period of ill health.

Wayne loved his family and grandchildren and was a friend to everyone.

He was born May 11, 1925 in Enid to Talmadge and Willie Oma [Smith] Bentley.

Wayne was raised in Enid and attended Enid schools, graduating in 1942.

He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Navy. He participated in Operation Crossroads, ordered by the Joint Chiefs of Staff, to test the effect of the atomic bomb on naval vessels, and conducted at Bikini Atoll & Marshall Islands. He was known as "Porkie" to his shipmates.

On September 5, 1949, he married Clarice Paine.

He was employed by Rock Island Railroad for many years, retiring as chief clerk.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, a member of Garfield Lodge 501, and a Past Worthy Patron of Eastern Star 447 Ruth Chapter.

Survivors include his wife, Clarice of Edmond; a son, Terry of Edmond; a daughter, T. Diana Wall of Colorado Springs, Co.; & 3 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Theresa Miller.

Clarice Marie [Paine] Bentley, 87, of Oklahoma City, formerly of Enid, OK, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2011. She was born October 19, 1924 in Enid, OK to Clarence Clayton Paine and Marie Charlotte Magdeburg.

Clarice graduated from Classen High School on Oklahoma City in 1942 and was a Rosie the Riveter at Tinker Air Force Base. She also worked for Bell Telephone.

In 1949, she married the love of her life, Wayne Bentley, and had 2 children, Terry Bentley of Katy, TX, and Diana Bentley Morneault of Grand Junction, CO.

She lived most of her adult life in Enid where she was very engaged with her children's lives and enjoyed going to football games, fishing, camping, and square dancing.

Clarice was a Nurses' Aide at St Mary's Hospital in Enid, and was one of the first patients in Oklahoma to undergo open-heart surgery. She also worked as a Physical Therapy Aide at Bass Baptist Memorial Hospital.

Clarice was a member of Central Christian Church and the Eastern Star in Enid.

She will be remembered by all as being a very sweet, loving, and gentle spirit.

She is survived by a sister, her two children, 3 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Allen Paine.

Funeral services will be held at the Ladusau Evans Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 30th.

Rev Don Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home as custodian of the funds.
