The funeral for Elora H. Benson, 76, will be 2 PM Saturday in the Ladusau – Evans Chapel. The Rev. Terry Chick will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau - Evans Funeral Home.

Elora was born January 26, 1924 two William and Mamie (Partain) Edwards near Whitesboro in southeastern Oklahoma. She died Wednesday, June 7, 2000 in Integris Bass Baptist Health Center. Elnora was raised by her grandparents, Leat and Ola Edwards.

In 1939 she married Benjamin White. Together they had three children, Meryl, Ruth and Horace. They were divorced in 1953.

She moved to Enid with her children in 1954, and married Frank Benson in 1956. He preceded her in death April 14, 1972. She worked various jobs, sometimes holding two or three jobs to support her family. She worked at night and attended beauty school during the day. After finishing, she worked in a local salon before opening her own business in 1970. She retired in 1994 to enjoy quilting, bingo, and traveling to see her family.

She is survived by one son, Meryle White of Talihina, her daughter, Ruth Hudson – Owens and her husband Danny of Enid; seven grandchildren, 15 great – grandchildren, and two great – great – grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Frank, her son Horace, her parents, her brother, two grandchildren, and one great – grandson.

She was the loving matriarch, fully devoted to her family. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Memorials may be made through the Ladusau – Evans Funeral Home to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
