© Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma July 3, 2010 November 28, 1925 ~ June 30, 2010 Jack Carl Bengtson passed away peacefully at home after a long battle with cancer on June 30, 2010 in Colorado Springs, CO at the age of 84. Jack was born 11/28/1925 on a farm called Gobblers Nob outside of Hillsdale, Oklahoma. From 1944 to 1946 Jack served his country in the Navy. He attended Phillips University and Oklahoma A & M and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Science. Jack worked for Halliburton, Corelab, and Gulf Oil Company as a geologist for 33 years with 22 of those years living overseas. Jack met his wife Norma while visiting family in Oklahoma and they married on 10/31/1952 after a six-week courtship. Jack vacationed in Colorado throughout his life and moved to Colorado Springs after retiring from Gulf Oil Company in 1983. He spent his retirement playing the stock market, fishing and traveling. His parents Carl and Vivian Bengtson, and his siblings Bud Bengtson and Joanne Lord preceded Jack in death. He is survived by, Norma, his wife of 57 years, daughter Claudia Bengtson, son Frank Bengtson and wife Lisa of Houston, TX, daughter Karen Douglas and husband Don of Colorado Springs, CO, granddaughter Audrey Partridge and husband Preston, great-granddaughters Lorelei and Magdelan of Redondo Beach, CA, grandsons FN Graham Douglas, USN of Charleston, SC and Ian Douglas of Colorado Springs, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and their families. The most important accomplishment of his life was to be a responsible, loving and generous husband, father, grandfather, relative and friend. ~~~~~~~~~~ COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - The funeral for Jack Carl Bengtson, 84, of Colorado Springs, Colo., will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 5, 2010, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral home. Rev Velmer Goebel will officiate. Burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Family memorial gathering will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, July 19, 2010, at Jacks home in Colorado Springs. Jack was born November 28, 1925, on a farm outside of Hillsdale and died Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at his home. Surviving are his wife, Norma; daughters, Claudia Bengtson and Karen Douglas; son, Frank Bengtson; three grandchildren; and two great granddaughters. Preceded in death by two siblings. © Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma April 2023 October 23, 1930 ~ April 5, 2023 Norma Bengtson passed away peacefully at Penrose Main Hospital, Colorado Springs, CO in the care of Pikes Peak Hospice. Norma was 93 and lived a long and happy life. Norma was born in Douglas, OK on October 23, 1930, to John Guy and Charity Olive [Garrison] Norman. She married Jack Carl Bengtson at Saint Paul's Lutheran Church, Enid OK on October 31, 1952. Together with her husband they traveled the world and raised their family in Texas, Washington, Louisiana, Libya, Mozambique, Denmark, Kuwait, England, Oklahoma City and then retired in Colorado Springs, CO. Norma grew up in Enid, OK and attended Saint Paul's Lutheran Church School. She graduated from Enid High School in 1949. Before marrying Jack, she worked at Bell's Jewelry and as a telephone switchboard operator. Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, daughter, Claudia Bengtson, her parents, three brothers and four sisters. She is survived by her son Frank Bengtson and wife Lisa of Houston, TX, daughter Karen Douglas and husband Don of Colorado Springs, CO, Granddaughter Audrey Partridge and husband Preston of Colorado Springs, CO, Grandson Graham Douglas of Raleigh, NC, Grandson Ian Douglas and wife Kirstie of Virginia Beach, VA, and six Great Grandchildren. Norma was intelligent and finished the Soduku every morning to keep her mind sharp. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint, and tatting. She had a green thumb and loved to be in the garden. She and her husband Jack loved Colorado and enjoyed fishing together. She will be missed by her family and the Colorado Springs community. |

© Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Enid, Oklahoma December 2022 April 28, 1954 ~ December 5, 2022 A graveside service for Claudia Bengtson, of Houston, Texas, formerly of Enid, will be 10:00 am, Friday, December 16, 2022 at Memorial Park Cemetery with Reverend Vernon Lee officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Claudia was born April 28, 1954 in Enid, to Jack C. Bengtson and Norma R. [Norman] Bengtson, and passed away at her home in Houston, Texas on December 5, 2022 at the age of 68 years. She lived and traveled with her parents and siblings to Texas, Louisiana, Libya, Mozambique, Denmark, and Kuwait. Claudia graduated High School from The American School of Kuwait in 1972. She continued her education at the University of Oklahoma and earned a degree in Political Science. After graduation from college, she moved to Houston, Texas where she worked in the financial industry employed by Criterion for over 25 years. Claudia retired from Criterion but continued to work at Emerson Electric. Claudia was preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her mother, Norma Bengtson, of Colorado Springs, CO; brother Frank Bengtson and wife Lisa, of Houston, TX; sister Karen Douglas and husband Don, of Colorado Springs, CO; niece Audrey Partridge and husband Preston, of Colorado Springs, CO; nephew Graham Douglas of Raleigh, NC; nephew Ian Douglas and wife Kirstie, of Virginia Beach, VA; six great nieces and nephews as well as numerous cousins and their families. Claudia was an intelligent, kind, and generous person. She loved to travel and explore. She was always reading books and magazines. Needlepoint was also a favorite pastime. She will be missed by family, friends, and colleagues. Memorial contributions in Claudia's name may be made to The Museum of Fine Art Houston or UNICEF with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
