Verne J. Benell
October 6, 1905 ~ September 14, 1970


Funeral services for Verne Benell, 65, 423 W. Oak, will be at 2 PM Friday in the Henninger-Allen Chapel with Rev. Jerry W. Perryman officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Henninger-Allen Funeral Home.

Benell, retired detective captain of the Enid police force, was killed Monday in a car accident in Colorado.

He was born October 6, 1905 in Hillsdale. He attended schools there and was graduated from Hillsdale high school.

Benell served 28 years with the Enid police force beginning March 7, 1936, and retiring March 7, 1964. At his retirement, he was captain in charge of the detective bureau. He was employed by Champlin's as a security officer until his death.

His survivors include his wife, Esther, and a son, Steve, of the home; two sisters, Bonnie Benell, and Mrs. Frank (Bernice) Hart, both of Enid; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Beulah and Beryl, and two brothers, Floyd and Lloyd.

All active and retired police personnel will serve as pallbearers.

Floyd Benell Jr
December 26, 1902 ~ April 2, 1965


The funeral for Floyd Benell Jr., 59, who died Monday at his home, 4100 Shady, will be at 2 PM Wednesday at Landusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev A. Meitner, pastor emeritus of Saint Paul's Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

He was born December 18, 1927, in Enid to Floyd and Julia Benell and graduated from Enid High School.

He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and later worked for Long Bell Lumber Company, and Tyding Wholesale. He was employed in the supply department at Enid State School at time of death.

Benell was a member of the VFW, Moose Lodge and Enid Solo Club.

He is survived by a son, Rex of Drummond, and a granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by a son.

Donna Rae [Pospisil] Benell
November 2, 1952 ~ June 28, 2020


The graveside service for Donna Rae Benell, 67 year-old Enid resident, will be 10:00 AM Thursday, July 2, 2020 in the Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum. Chaplain Gary Miller will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

Donna was born November 10, 1952 in Enid to Charles and Mary [Black] Pospisil and died Sunday, June 28, 2020 at St Mary's Regional Medical Center.

She attended Waukomis schools, graduating with the class of 1971. She then attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University obtaining her Bachelor's Degree of Science in Business Administration.

She went to work with ANR Pipeline in Enid. She worked there for over 25 years. She later went to work with Messer-Bowers Insurance, where she remained until retirement.

Donna enjoyed traveling, reading, shopping, and just taking time to relax in her retirement.

She is survived by three sisters, Charlene Parker and husband, Ron of Georgetown, TX; twin sister, Denna Perigo and husband, David of Bison; Charlotte Arnold and husband, Larry also of Bison and nephew, Ryan Perigo of Enid.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.

Memorials can be given through Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home to OMRF, Muscular Dystrophy Division.
