Funeral services for Irene Leona England Benefiel will be Monday, April 17, 2006, at Ladusau – Evans Chapel with Rev. Marvin Goodpasture officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau – Evans Funeral Home.

Irene Leona England Benefiel, 87, beloved wife, mother, sister, daughter, died April 13, 2006, at Country Cottage Assisted Living in Corinth, Mississippi. A long – time resident of Enid, Irene and her husband, Loyd moved to Mississippi to be near their daughter.

Born August 30, 1918, in Seiling, Oklahoma to John D. and Louie England, Irene and her twin sister, Lorene, grew up in a loving household outside of Seiling.

Irene married William Bateman in 1937, they later divorced. She married Lloyd O. Benefiel in 1941, and they celebrated 63 wonderful years together. Irene served in the VFW Women's Auxiliary, and was involved in many church and school activities she attended Enid Business College and was employed as a bookkeeper/receptionist at several Enid businesses. She was secretary for many years for the late Dr. Paul Remple. She loved people, and never forgot a birthday. Family reunions and holidays brought special times and great joy to her.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Loyd, a daughter, Betty Bateman Steffen La Faver, sister, Lorene Rogers, and brothers, John O. England, Leslie E. England and Earl W. England.

Survivors include her brother, Roy England and his wife Julie of Salina, Kansas, a caring sister – in – law, Vera Benefiel of Oklahoma City; a son, Ronald D. Bateman of Oklahoma City; and daughter, Leeann Goodman and her husband Joe of Corinth, Mississippi. Most cherished were her 10 grandchildren; seven great – grandchildren; and four great – great – grandchildren.

Donations in her memory may be made to Spinal Cord Research, Alzheimer's Research or the charity of your choice with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home as custodian of the funds.
