Ernest Thankful Barrick
November 24, 1887 ~ November 15, 1972


Ernest T. Barrick, 84, 1710 N. Quincy, died early Wednesday in a local hospital after an illness of several days.

His funeral rites will be at 2 PM Friday in the First United Methodist Church with Dr John Russell officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Barrick was born November 24, 1887, in Delmar, Iowa, and had lived in Oklahoma since 1919.

He was a prominent area farmer, stockman and businessman until his retirement in 1960.

His first wife Maude preceded him in death in 1955 and he later married Hazel Page.

Barrick was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a member of the Garfield County Masonic Lodge 501, the York Rite body and was the oldest Mason in years of service in Enid. He received his 50 year pin in 1965, and had become a Mason in 1914. Barrick was a member of the Eastern Star Ruth chapter. He was past patron and a member of the Enid Commandry Knights Templar No. 13.

In addition to his wife Hazel he is survived by seven daughters, Mrs Paul [Margaret] Leonard of Osage, Iowa, Mrs Bert [Esther] Thompson of Tulsa, Mrs W. H. [Mary] Gilbert of Iowa falls, Iowa, Mrs Larry [Cathryn] Stubbe of Phoenix, Arizona, Mrs Guy (Helen] Williams of Mason City, Iowa, Mrs Doyle [Charlotte] Barrick of Perkins, Mrs Larry [Dorothy] Welch of Scottsdale, Arizona; three sons, Dr Elliott Barrick, Raleigh, North Carolina, Robert Barrick of Osage, Iowa and Rev William Barrick of Madison, New Jersey; a sister, Mrs Anna Burnett of Shawnee; 36 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
