A Celebration of Life for Helen Louise Barnes, age 86, of Enid, is 10:00 am, Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Gail Edmison and Reverend Jim Edmison will officiate, with burial to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, July 15, 2016 at the funeral home. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Helen was born April 10, 1930 in Covington, Oklahoma to Howard V. Gumm and Lela I. (Pierce) Gumm, and passed away Sunday, July 10, 2016 at The Commons in Enid.

Helen was raised in the Covington area and attended Covington Public Schools. She married Bill Deck Barnes on September 16, 1950 in Garber. They lived in Garber for their first two years of marriage, moving to Enid in 1952. She was a loving wife and mother.

She is preceded in death by her husband Bill Barnes.

Helen is survived by three children; daughter, Susan K. Smith and husband Graham of Monument, Colorado; Vernon Barnes and wife Marsha, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Sharon Gorenc and husband Frank of Ramstein, Germany; seven grandchildren, Brent and Scott Smith; Todd, Scott and Elizabeth Barnes; Helen (Gorenc) Nichols and Michael Gorenc; five great-grandchildren as well as extended family members and many friends.

Memorials in Helen’s name may be made to Hospice Circle of Love or the Commons Activity Fund with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as the custodian of the funds.
