April 03, 1929 - February 14, 2021

A private graveside service for Eunice D. "Barney" Barnes, age 91, of Enid, will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Barney was born April 3, 1929, in Enid, OK, to Jack and Catherine (Hart) Hays and passed away peacefully at home on February 14, 2021, surrounded by her family. Eunice was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Harold Hays and her loving husband Buster Dean Barnes (1925-1991) whom she married on April 3, 1946, son-in-law, Harry J. Congdon.

Barney, as she was known by many, was the consummate Enid booster and lived here her entire life; 70 of those years in the house she and Buster bought to raise their three daughters.

Known for her independent and sparkling personality, Barney spent many years as a successful salesperson for J. C. Penney, Coldiron's and C.R. Anthony. After retiring, she utilized her experience and upbeat, positive personality volunteering for more than 20 years at St. Mary's Hospital and then at Loaves & Fishes. Barney was also a proud member of Delta Theta Chi Sorority, Oklahoma Delta Chapter for over 50 years.

Eunice is survived by her daughters; Nancy Phillips and husband Butch of Enid, Cynthia and husband Mark Douglas of Kingwood, TX, Kathy Congdon of Enid, her loving grandchildren, Mindy Smith, Katie McCoy, Nicole Vallee, Jason Congdon and Jamie Hromas, and several great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, her sister Ruth Bradley of Dayton, Ohio.

Memorials may be made to Backpack for Kids with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.

Condolences may be made online at www.ladusauevans.com.
