Earl Duane Barnard
November 17, 1930 ~ December 21, 2012


The funeral for Earl D. Barnard, 82 year-old Enid resident, will be 1:30 pm Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Garland Road Baptist Church. Pastor Greg Hook will officiate.

Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

Earl was born November 17, 1930 in Donie, Texas to Marion Earl and Verna Marie [Martin] Barnard and died December 21, 2012 at his home in Enid.

He graduated from Kilgore High School and then entered the United States Air Force. After serving two years of duty, he attended and graduated from North Texas State College with his degree in Business Administration.

On January 18, 1960, he married Shirley Astley in Helena, Oklahoma. The couple made their first home in Delhi, Louisiana.

Earl was a drilling superintendent for Sun Oil Company for 32 years. He retired in 1985.

He was an active member of Garland Road Baptist Church.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, [his huge tomatoes were in great demand], and he loved watching football.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley of the home; children, David Barnard and wife, Tresa of Enid; Sheri Stone and husband, Tim of Yukon, OK; Daryl Barnard and wife, Emily of Arlington, Texas; grandchildren, Kory, Kristin, Jessica, Jenna, Ethan, Matthew, Luke, Sara, David, Natalie, and Amy; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Verna Louise Martin of Athens, TX and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be given through the funeral home to the Garland Road Baptist Church.
