January 21, 1930 ~ November 21, 2011


ENID - A memorial service for Marion Balzer, 81, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Enid, with Rev Wade Burleson officiating. Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

Marion was born to Henry and Elizabeth [Friesen] Balzer on January 21, 1930, in Hooker, Oklahoma and died Monday, November 21, 2011, at St Mary's Regional Medical Center, Enid.

Marion graduated from Enid High School in 1947. On June 25, 1953, he married Dorothy Braun in Enid, where they made their home . Marion was an accountant and bookkeeper for Champlin Company for 11 years, and then worked in sales at Plastics Unlimited. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, and a member of First Home Bible Class. He was active in the music department, participating in the Praisingers Choir, and formerly sang with a quartet. Marion was a member of Enid Civitan Club for 40 years and a longtime ambassador with Enid Chamber of Commerce. He also enjoyed woodworking.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, Debbie [Chris] Wells of Stillwater, Bryan [Kaylene] Balzer of Enid and Kevin [Mary] Balzer of Garber; 11 grandchildren, Cody, Lindsay, Patrick, Jamie, Jonathan, Lessa, Candace, Chas, Alisha, Rachel and Peter; and 16 great grandchildren.

Marion was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Dorothy [Braun] Balzer
September 25, 1934 ~ January 10, 2024


Celebration of Life Service for Dorothy Balzer, 89, will be Monday, January 22, 2024 at 2:00 pm in Emmanuel Enid Chapel. Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

Dorothy was born on September 25, 1934 in Enid to Abe and Gertrude [Toews] Braun and entered in to Heaven on January 10, 2024 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

She grew up in North Enid and Kremlin. Dorothy played basketball and softball.

Dorothy met Marion Balzer at the Mennonite Brethren Church and married June 25, 1953. They had three children.

She was a longtime member and secretary for Mennonite Brethren Church. Dorothy later worked for Dillingham Insurance, where she retired after over 20 years of service.

She was a member of Emmanuel Enid for over 40 years. She enjoyed sewing, reading and working puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion; parents; three brothers and two sisters.

Dorothy is survived by her children and their families, Debbie and Chris Wells and their children Cody Wells & Chelsea Finn, Lindsay & Tim Helton, Patrick & Kate Wells and Jamie & Max Glasson; Bryan and Kaylene Balzer and their children Jonathan & Meg Powell, Melessa & Jason Hancock, Candace Green, Chas & Kristin Balzer and Alisha Balzer; and Kevin and Mary Balzer and their children Rachel & Jeremy Rogers, and Peter & Kara Balzer; numerous great grandchildren; several great, great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
