The funeral for William A. Baker, 79, of Enid, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Ladusau-Evans chapel. The Rev. Steve Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

He was born Sept. 9, 1928, in Booker, Texas, to Marion and Florence Venis Baker and died Saturday, March 1, 2008, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

He graduated from Booker High School. He helped build the elevator and high school gym. He moved to Enid in the early 1950s to work for Union Equity, retiring after 38 years. He married Juanita Beeche in June 1993. He attended Calvary Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Diana Lipsett and Connie Baker, both of Enid; one son, Bruce Baker of Enid; one sister, Mary McBride of Dallas; two brothers, Herb Baker of Roswell, N.M., and Orlan Baker of South Texas; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita.
