Flossie Maude [Sheppard] Baker
February 26, 1895 ~ June 16, 1985


Mrs Carl [Flossie] Baker, 90, Route 4, died Sunday, June 16, 1985.

Services are scheduled for 2 PM Wednesday in the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Chapel with Rev Jeff Enabnit officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Baker was born February 26, 1895 at Clinton, Mississippi. She married Carl Baker in 1913 at Springfield, Missouri. In 1922 they moved from Kiowa County to Enid.

She was a member of the Davis Park Christian Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Mr Claire [Mildred] Karns, Enid; a son, T. Glen, Natchitoches, Louisiana; five grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren, and a half sister, Mrs David Udden, Derby, Kansas.

William Luther Calvin Baker
January 13, 1901 ~ June 5, 1966


William Baker, 65, died Sunday afternoon in a local hospital after an illness of only a few hours.

A native of Republic County, Kansas, Baker came to Oklahoma in 1950 and has lived here since.

He was connected with Union Equity and Grain Company and worked part-time for a local grocery until this May. Since then he was with the First National Bank and Trust Company.

Baker was a member of the Maine Nazarene Church.

He is survived by his widow Vella of the home, 1410 E. Elm; three daughters, Mrs Chloella Buller, Enid, Mrs Ron [Mona] Dorchester, Bethany, and Sarah Alice Baker of the home; two sons, William C. Baker of Enid and Jerry D. Baker of Stillwater; a brother, Marion Baker, Medicine Lodge, Kansas, and 13 grandchildren.

Services will be today at 2 PM in the Maine Nazarene Church with Rev Orville Firestone officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Allen Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Bill Hale, Henry Gunsalves, Melvin Hutchison, Donald A. Black, Harold Lance and Ivan Yount.

Wilmoth Bell [Harris] Fisher
September 6, 1905 ~ November 1986


Services for Wilmoth B. Baker, 81, 1700 Mosher Dive., were at 2 PM today at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev Jim Sutherlin officiating. Burial was at Memorial Park Cemetery.

She died Thursday in Duncan at her son's home.

She was born September 6, 1905, at Bison, to Boyd and Lydia Harris.

She grew up in the Covington – Enid area and taught in the Bison and Sunny Slope school district.

She and Earl F. Baker were married in 1932 and the family lived on a farm southwest of Enid.

He preceded her in death on April 30, 1975.

She was a member of the Christian Church of the Covenant and was active in numerous church activities, the Home Demonstration Club and Meals on Wheels.

Survivors include two sons, Marvin, Paris, Texas, and Eugene, Duncan; a daughter, Ruth Ann Bowyer, Roseville, Minnesota; two sisters, Olive Painton, Kansas City, Kansas, and Lilah Ward, Enid; seven grandchildren and a great grandchild.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society through the funeral home.

Arlynn Benton Baker

ENID - A graveside service for Arlynn Benton Baker, 89, of Enid, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2012, in the Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel with Rev Steve Lance officiating. Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

Arlynn was born on May 20, 1923, in Isabella , Oklahoma, to Benjamin F. and Beulah [Zimmerman] Baker and died June 30, 2012, in Enid.

He attended Ringwood High School, and at the age of 17 entered the Civilian Conservation Corps. Arlynn was discharged in 1941.

On September 29, 1942, he married Ruby Ione Schoonover in Enid, Oklahoma, where they made their home.

Arlynn enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1943 and served until his discharge in 1945

He went to work at Champlin Refinery until his retirement in 1983. Arlynn was a hard worker, enjoyed his automobiles and loved horses. He was very passionate about showing his ponies.

Arlynn was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sharon Truman; grandson, Austin McKaig; two sisters, Loreta Peckham and Benalea Schwedland; brother, Everett Baker.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby of the home; son, Gary Baker of Fairview; daughter, Janis McKaig and husband, Tony, of Norman; four grandchildren, Cindy Wilcoxen, Barry Baker, Lisa Truman, and Tyler McKaig; three great grandchildren, Jake and Ryan Wilcoxen, and Emma Truman; son-in-law Bill Truman, of Enid; other relatives and friends.

Ralph Joseph Baker
September 14, 1919 ~ May 14, 2006


Funeral services for Ralph Joseph Baker, 86, will be 2 p.m. today at Central Christian Church. The Rev. John McLemore will officiate. Burial will be in Enid Cemetery.

Arrange-ments are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Ralph was born to Ernest Ralph Baker and Violette Etta [Jacobs] Baker on Sept. 14, 1919, at home on the family farm southwest of Enid, where Vance Air Force Base is now located, and died at St Mary's Regional Medical Center on Sunday, May 14, 2006, after a period of ill health.

After graduating from Enid High School in 1936 at the age of 16, Ralph attended Phillips University for two years and then farmed before being drafted into the Army. He was transferred to the Enid Army Air Base for his basic training, and several news articles around the country reported that "Cadet learns to fly in his own back yard," since the base now stood on his dad's former farm. He served in the Army Air Corps as a pilot and first lieutenant and flew 70 dangerous missions over "The Hump," in the China-Burma-India Theater over 17 months, having to bail out once over China. While there, he received several important commendations, including the Air Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Distinguished Flying Cross, also with one Oak Leaf Cluster. After his overseas service, he was transferred back to the states to complete his service.

Upon returning home, his sisters and mother introduced him to the church secretary, Luella Mae Davis. After a brief courtship, they married in Central Christian Church on April 14, 1946. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary just last month.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Luella; his children Danny Baker and Suzi Powell, Lindy Baker and his wife Connie, Connie Jo Collins and her husband Rick, all of Enid, and Steven Baker and his wife Kathi of Ponca City; and two sisters, Mary Ruth Cooper and Vera Sue Bunch and her husband Frank of Enid; nine grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant brothers, Laverne and Duane, and two sisters, Zella Fairleigh and Ernestine Malden.

Luella Mae [Davis] Baker

The funeral for Luella Mae [Davis] Baker will be 2 p.m. today at Central Christian Church. Rev John McLemore will officiate. Burial will be in Enid Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Luella was born to Albert H. and Ida Mae Guernsey Davis on July 3, 1923, in Pond Creek, OK and died Sunday, January 13, 2008, at 5:20 p.m. at her home at Trinity Place assisted Living in Enid.

After graduating from high school in Pond Creek as valedictorian, she attended and graduated from Enid Business College. Upon graduation, she worked as church secretary at Central Christian Church.

She married Ralph J. Baker April 14, 1946, in Enid, after he returned from World War II. He passed away May 14, 2006. She had been introduced to him by his sister, Mary Ruth (Baker) Cooper. After a career in farming, they retired and moved back to Enid. They enjoyed 60 years of marriage.

She was proud to have been a charter member of the Sooner Sunday school class at Central Christian Church where she served in several officer positions, including president. She was selected as Mother of the Year of the church in 2003. She enjoyed being a member of the Bethany Extension Club until health problems prohibited her from attending. What made her most proud were her children and grandchildren.

Besides her husband, Ralph, she was preceded in death by both of her parents, her sister, Dorothy Walters, and stepgranddaughter, Lisa VonWerder.

She is survived by her children, Danny Baker and his wife Suzi, Lindy Baker and his wife Connie, Connie Jo Collins and her husband Rick, all of Enid, and Steve Baker and his wife Kathi of Ponca City; seven grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; five great grandchildren; nine step great grandchildren; and two step great great grandchildren. She also is survived by her sisters-in-law, Mary Ruth Cooper and Vera Sue Bunch and her husband Frank, both of Enid.

Graveside services for Ruby Baker, 93 of Enid, will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 2, 2019, in the Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum with the Rev Kelly Russell officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

Ruby was born March 29, 1925, at Ames, Oklahoma to Russell and Ethel "Grace" Schoonover, and passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2019, in Enid.

She attended Ames High School.

She married Arlynn Baker on September 29, 1942 in Enid, where they made their home. In addition to being a housewife, Ruby worked part-time for a number of years at Marquis Studios. She was a member of Davis Park Christian Church and the Home Extension Club. She enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening, sewing and quilting. Family was her biggest joy in life, and she loved spending time with them.

Ruby is survived by her children; Gary Baker of Fairview, and Janis McKaig and husband Tony of Norman, three grandchildren; Barry Kephart, Lisa Truman, and Tyler McKaig, three great grandchildren; Jake and Ryan Wilcoxen, and Emma Truman, and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Arlynn, daughter, Sharon Truman, grandson, Austin McKaig, granddaughter Cindy Wilcoxen, brother, Orville Schoonover, sisters, Lucille Oliver and JoAnn Flock.

Graveside service for James Aubrey Baker, 90, Enid, is 10 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2017, at the Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum. Minister of Youth, the Rev Jake Adams of Enid First Baptist Church will officiate.

The United States Navy Honor Guard will provide military honors. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Jim was born Septem ber 11, 1926, to Alvin and Annie [Smith] Baker in Gladewater, Texas, and passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017, in Many, La.

Jim served his country in the United States Navy during WWII.

He married Betty Jo Harrison Sept. 1, 1948, in Union Grove, Texas.

He retired from J & L Oil Supply after 30 years of service.

Following retirement, he went back to work for Sundance Energy as production manager. Not wanting to retire, he last worked for Riteway Construction.

He and Betty Jo were long time members of the First Baptist Church of Enid, where he served as a deacon.

He was predeceased by his wife Betty Jo Baker; and two brothers, A. C. Baker and Edward Baker.

He is survived by two daughters, Cherry Wells and husband Danny, of Many, La.; Cindy Wagner and husband Wayne Wagner, of Enid; four grandchildren, Jeremy Wells, of Many, La.; Seth Wells and wife JoLeigh, of Columbia, S.C.; Jeffrey Wagner and wife Hannah, of Woodward; Lisa Naccarato and husband John, of Firestone, Colo.; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Sophia Jean Lenderman, of Tyler, Texas; and brother Charles Baker and wife Doris, of Longview, Texas.

The funeral for William A. Baker, 79, of Enid, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Ladusau-Evans chapel. The Rev Steve Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

He was born September 9, 1928, in Booker, Texas, to Marion and Florence Venis Baker and died Saturday, March 1, 2008, at St Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

He graduated from Booker High School. He helped build the elevator and high school gym. He moved to Enid in the early 1950s to work for Union Equity, retiring after 38 years. He married Juanita Beeche in June 1993.

He attended Calvary Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Diana Lipsett and Connie Baker, both of Enid; one son, Bruce Baker of Enid; one sister, Mary McBride of Dallas; two brothers, Herb Baker of Roswell, N.M., and Orlan Baker of South Texas; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita.

Henry Grady Baker
March 28, 1932 ~ March 26, 2013


Graveside service for Henry Grady Baker, 80, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum, with Rev Carrell E. Still officiating. Visitation with the family this evening 5-6:30 p.m at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

Henry was born to W.C. and Cora May [Moore] Baker on March 28, 1932, in San Angelo, Texas, and died Sunday, March 27, 2013, in Enid.

Henry grew up in San Angelo before moving to Enid his junior year. He then graduated from Enid High with the class of 1949.

Henry served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

After his honorable discharge, he married Mary Ellen Nelson in Enid, where they made their home. Henry worked at Speed Star for 35 years.

He was Cubmaster of Cub Scout Pack 18 at Monroe School, and Scoutmaster at Troop 19 at Willow Road Christian Church.

Henry was a member of Willow Road Christian Church. He was a member of 189th Field Artillery Veterans Association and enjoyed those reunions. Henry also enjoyed woodworking.

Henry is survived by his wife, Mary of the home; son, William "Bill" and Teresa Baker of Goltry; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his parents, one sister, and daughter, Mary Beth Adamson.

Jimmy B. "Jim" Baker
May 17, 1932 ~ June 6, 2021


A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Jimmy B. Baker at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home, with Reverend Eric Keller and Reverend Alan Seibel officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Jim was born March 17, 1932, the son of Ted and Lena [Landwehr] Baker, and was born and raised on the family farm southwest of Waukomis, Oklahoma. He passed away in Mercy Hospital on June 6, 2021.

He attended Morning Star Country School for the first eight grades and then attended Waukomis High School, graduating in 1950. He attended Enid Business College from August 1950 through May 1952, while working part time for Groendyke Trucking Co. Jim was drafted into the U.S. Army in October 1952 and served two years in the 505th Military Police Battalion, stationed at the Presidio of San Francisco, California.

Upon being discharged, he returned to Enid and was employed by the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety as a communications officer for the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. He was later promoted to Chief Radio Communication Officer, where he served twenty-seven and a half years, retiring in 1982.

Jim was involved in farming the family farms during his employment with the OHP, and continued farming full-time until retiring in 1999. In 1994,

Jim and his brother Royce were awarded the Bankers Soil Conservation Award and later Oklahoma Centennial Farm Award.

On November 6, 1955, Jim married Rosa Ann Weida at Bethany Evangelical Church and made their home in Enid. A year later they moved to Waukomis. They had two children, Jimmy Dean and Jina Ann Baker. Jim and Rosa have been married for sixty-five years.

Jim was a member of Waukomis Methodist Church and Waukomis Lions Club until its closing in 2002. He was a member of The Board of Directors of the Waukomis Co-op for several years, serving as President and Secretary of the Board. Jim and his family moved to Enid in 1981 and became members of Oakwood Christian Church.

He was a volunteer worker in the construction of classrooms at the church and building of the Bus Barn, The Rock House and The Oakwood Activity Center. He was also a volunteer worker in the operation of the OAC from its opening until ill health caused him to quit in August 2008.

Jim is survived by his wife Rosa; a son Jim and his wife Cindy; daughter Jina and her husband Doug Kapka; three grandchildren, Tanner Baker and his wife Stefani, Chase Baker of Oklahoma City, Anne Meredith Kapka of Norman; two great-grandchildren, Sofie Jane Baker and Callen Quin; sister-in-law Elizabeth Baker of Edmond; brother-in-law Lt. Col. [Ret] Ralph Weida of Vacaville, California; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Lena; brother Royce; brother-in-law Rudy Weida and his wife Linda; sister-in-law Diana Weida; and his favorite father and mother-in-law, William and Elsie Weida.

Ronald O. Baker Sr

ENID - Funeral service for Ronald O. Baker Sr., 81, of Enid, will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 15, 2013, at Ladusau-Evans Chapel, with Elder J. R. Ellis officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Ronald was born January 19, 1932, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Harold S. and Eloise M. Wise Baker and passed away at his home Tuesday, July 9, 2013.

He was raised in the Los Angeles area, where he attended Los Angeles Academy and David Star Jordan High.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army on Septrmber 4, 1952, and was honorably discharged on September 3, 1954. He received the Purple Heart Medal for his combat duty.

Ronald married Dorothy Mae James June 12, 1955, in Los Angeles, Calif., and celebrated 58 years of marriage.

He worked for the city of Los Angeles as a horticulturist, retiring after 37 years. They moved to Enid in 1997.

Ronald was a longtime member of Normandie Seventh Day Adventist Church and after moving to Enid, became a member of Philadelphia Seventh Day Adventist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of the home; daughter, Stephanie R. Abell of Enid; sons, Cedric J. Baker Sr and wife Ilene of Drummond, and Ronald O. Baker Jr of Bellflower, Calif.; brothers, Harold Baker Sr of Apple Valley, Calif., and Earl Baker of Inglewood, Calif.; sisters, Marlene Grismore of Fontana, Calif., and Lucritia Nelson of Los Angeles, Calif.; five grandchildren, Dawntisha Jones, Stacy Glaspie, Starla Abell, Breanne Yazel and C. J. Baker Jr; nine great grandchildren; and host of other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jerald Baker Sr; and a sister, Carolyn Veal.

Dorothy May [James] Baker

Dorothy May [James] Baker was born October 4, 1933 in Los Angeles, California to Henry and Anzie [Dennis] James, and passed away Saturday, April 11, 2020 at the age of 86 years in Enid, Oklahoma.

She attended school at Los Angeles Academy graduating in 1952. She attended Pacific Union College where she obtained her Licensed Vocational Nurse degree, she later entered the nursing program at California Community College where she earned her BA as a Registered Nurse.

She married Ronald O. Baker Sr on June 12, 1955 in Los Angeles.

Dorothy worked for Kaiser Permanente Hospital and later she worked for the Los Angeles Co. Health Department as the head nurse for five prenatal clinics, retiring after more than 30 years.

She and Ronald moved to Enid in 1997 to be closer to their grandchildren.

Dorothy volunteered for the American Red Cross Disaster Team and the Enid Community Corrections Center.

She was a long-time member of the Philadelphia SDA Church, serving in several roles, church clerk, treasurer and a deaconess.

She loved to roller skate and ride bikes and spending time with her family and friends.

Dorothy enjoyed helping others and had a humble and giving spirit; she didn't like attention or the spotlight so many times her acts of kindness were done anonymously.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ronald O. Baker Sr; granddaughter, Dawntisha Jones; brother, Henry A. James Jr; twin sister, Doris M. Reid and her husband Walter Reid Sr.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter, Ronald O. Baker Jr and wife Mable of Enid, OK; Stephanie Abell and partner, Patricia Ward of Enid, OK; Cedric Baker Sr and wife Ilene of Drummond, OK; four grandchildren, Stacy Glaspie and husband Derrick of Dallas, TX; Starla Abell of Pennsylvania; Breanne Yhazel and husband Derrick of Enid; Cedric Baker Jr of Enid; ten great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Marlene Grismore and husband Cordie of California; Lucretia Nelson of California; Janie James of Pomona, CA; brother-in-law Earl Baker of California; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.

The family visitation with friends will be at the funeral home Tuesday, from 12 nooon until 4:00 pm.

Services will be 2:00 pm Thursday at Ladusau-Evans Chapel.

Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
