The memorial service for Rev. Wesley D. Byrd, 77-year-old former Enid resident is 11:00AM Saturday, April 15, 2023, in the Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jim Lang officiating. There will be a private family burial preceding the service in Memorial Park Cemetery. Viewing will be from 8AM-8PM Friday at the funeral home.

Wesley was born October 7, 1945, in Carlsbad, NM. to Archie and Bertha (Hobbs) Byrd and died Friday, April 7, 2023, in his home in Norman. OK. Wesley graduated from Artesia High School with the class of 1963. That same year he married his high-school sweetheart Joyce Long. The couple lived in LA, NM, and Texas, where he earned his B.D. at Arlington Baptist College in 1975. The couple settled in Enid in 1981.

Rev. Byrd was the minister at Bethel Baptist Church for 40 years. His wife Joyce ran the K-12 Bethel Academy along beside him. He ran the radio station KBVV for 18 years. He was also active in the YMCA.

Joyce preceded him in death in 2019 and he later remarried Barbara Taylor and the couple lived in Norman.

Wesley is survived by his wife Barbara of the home, children, Betsy Randolph and husband George of Guthrie, Brian Byrd and wife Amy of Palacios, TX. and Brent Byrd and wife Jennifer of Enid: Grandchildren, John Byrd and wife Amanda,; Robert Byrd; Bronson Randolph and wife Kiara; Whitney Sanders and husband, Gus; Kelsey Byrd and partner Braden Scott. Great-grandchildren, Jacob Randolph; Ava Grace Randolph; Canon Sanders; Meadow Sanders; Garrett Elliott; and Hank Byrd. two brothers, Bob and wife Cathy and Mickey and wife Teresa as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Joyce, and a sister.
