Memorial Park Cemetery



June 6, 1938 - December 4, 2021

The services celebrating and honoring the life of Delores Jean Brown, 83, of Enid, will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday December 10, 2021, in the First Baptist Church with Pastor Kelly Russell officiating. A visitation will be held 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Thursday December 9 in the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. Burial will follow the services in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Delores was born June 6, 1938, to Jessie and Bessie Smith in Enid, Oklahoma, and passed from this life December 4, 2021, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

She was raised and educated in Enid, graduating from Enid High School with the class of 1956. She married Gerald Edward Brown May 31, 1958, in Enid. She graduated from Phillips University with a bachelor's degree in elementary education in 1975. She began teaching third grade in 1974 at Glenwood Elementary until her retirement in 1998. She loved teaching and impacted the lives of hundreds of children in a remarkable way. Following her retirement, she continued to serve the community working in the Enid High Alumni Association. Delores dedicated her life to serving others and enriching the many lives she touched. Delores was a member of E.E.A, O.E.A., K.K.I., and a devoted member of the First Baptist Church, Enid.

She is survived by one daughter, Kristin Hancock, of Atlanta, Georgia; one son, Craig Brown, of Edmond, Oklahoma, Amy Brown, daughter-in-law, Chip Hancock, son-in-law, 5 grandchildren, Chandler Hancock, Elizabeth Hancock, Molly Hancock, Jack Brown, Maggie Brown and her brother, Cecil Smith of Enid, OK.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Brown.

Memorials may be given in her honor to First Baptist Church, Enid OK, with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
