Willard was very faithful in the Mennonite Brethren Church his entire life and served in many capacities. He attended the schools of Peerless, Progressive, Fairview, and graduated Corn Bible Academy as valedictorian.

He attended Tabor College for one year then moved to Enid, OK to work for Davis and Case Lumber Company and attend Enid Business College. He met Doris June Cornelsen during this time and they wedded November 18, 1949 at the Enid MB Church. They made their home in Enid where Willard was employed by W.B. Johnson Grain Company as a bookkeeper. Three children were born; Patty, Larry, and Randy.

In 1962 Willard was bookkeeper for Fairview Pipe and Supply (Waldon) on the weekends. In the summer of '63 the family moved to Fairview where Willard worked full time for the company for 15 years. He also had other business ventures; American Fiberglass (boat building), Miller Distributing (farm machinery sales), and Ranlar (Waldon dealer for Oklahoma). Willard and Doris opened Fairview Flowers (florist) in 1977 and expanded to Enid in 1981 (Enid Floral) with Willard as main manager. Fairview Flowers sold in 1993 and Enid Floral in 2000 when he officially retired. Willard still remained active for several years as deliverer for Meals on Wheels, bookkeeper for Golden Fried Chick, administrator of his neighborhood HOA, and church activities. He loved to garden and always kept a manicured lawn and fish pond. In his 70's he and Doris would go RVing to Colorado or Branson, MO. During his life he was also involved in Lions Club, the Dale Carnegie Course, and floral associations (American Floral Society, Telefloral, and FTD-Master Florist).

Willard is survived by his wife Doris; daughter Patty and her husband Jim Harvey of Kremlin, OK; son Larry and his wife Debbie Bartel of Fairview, OK; and son Randy Bartel of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren; Brian (Gretchen) Siler, Chris (Stacey) Siler, Celeste (Richard) Combs, Sherry (Greg) Weese, Christina (Mark) Rogriguez, and Emma Mikulec; nine great- grandchildren; Ali (Dayton) King, Ethan (Kaleigh) Siler, Mathias Siler, Max Siler, Jantz Siler, Gwenyth Rodriguez, Elijah Rodriguez, Daniel Smith, and Lonnie Combs; six great-great grandchildren: Mila, Jovi, Leni, Etta, Emerson, and Everleigh.
