© Enid Morning News Enid, Oklahoma April 1974 June 6, 1900 ~ April 7, 1974 Cecil P. Andrews, 73, 901 W. Cherokee, died early Sunday morning in a local hospital where he was admitted to last Tuesday. Born in Kenesaw, Nebraska on June 6, 1900, he moved with his parents to Oklahoma in 1914. He returned to Kenesaw to graduate from high school, then moved back to Oakwood where he was employed by the Oakwood Bank. Andrews married the former Marjorie Horner on June 13, 1931 at Pawhuska. They lived at Clinton, then in 1935, moved to Enid where he has lived since. For the past 23 years, he has been associated with the Oklahoma Paper Company, retiring in January 1974. Andrews was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and he served as a Deacon. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 80 of which he was a Past Master, and of the Night Templer, Hi-12, North Central Iris Society, Men's Garden Club, and Enid Amateur Radio Club. Funeral services for Andrews will be conducted at 2 PM Wednesday in the First Presbyterian Church with Dr Leslie G. Everitt officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Henninger-Allen Funeral Home. Masons will be seated as honorary pallbearers. Survivors include his wife Marjorie of the home; one son, Milton, Washington, D. C.; One daughter, Yvonne Reed, Enid; four grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs William [Viola] Bruce, Coweta, and L'Ava Allen of Waggoner. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. |

© Henninger Hinson Funeral Home Garfield County, OK February 2011 April 16, 1910 ~ February 16, 2011 Marjorie Horner Andrews, 100, a horticulturist and Enid resident since 1936, died February 16, 2011 at the Sterling House, an assisted living facility in Enid, of congestive heart failure. Marjorie Mae Horner was born on April 16, 1910 in a Wichita, KS, hospital to Clarence and Iva Marston Horner, homesteaders near Lamont, OK. She grew up on farms near Lamont and Oakwood, OK, graduating from Oakwood High School in 1929. She attended what is now Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, OK, where she received her teacher's credentials. She taught in a rural elementary school. She and Cecil P. Andrews were married in 1931 and moved to Enid in 1936. She was a charter member and past president of several regional garden clubs, including those devoted to roses, gladiolas, irises, and chrysanthemums, as well as the Enid Council of Garden Clubs. She was a multiple winner in flower shows and served as a judge in others. Mrs Andrews was supervisor of the Enid State School greenhouses and grounds from 1955 until her retirement in 1976. While there, she was an organizer and first president of the employees union. In retirement, she took up oil painting and has completed dozens of oil painting, mainly of flowers and flower arrangements. Mrs Andrews has been a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Enid since 1936 and has served as an Elder and on Session. She is a life member of the Sons and Daughters of the Pioneers. She is honored by the Marjorie Horner Andrews Graduate Scholarship Award in the OSU Department of Horticulture and Landscaping Graduate Studies program. Mrs. Andrews has one son, Milton Andrews and wife Pat, and their daughter Heather Andrews, who lives near Washington, DC; four grandchildren, Eric Reed of Edmond, OK; Phillip Reed of Norman, OK; Kay Reed Shaughnessy and her husband Jim of Enid; and two great grandchildren, Jake and Aine Shaughnessy. She was predeceased by her husband Cecil Andrews in 1974 and a daughter, Yvonne Andrews Reed, in 1988. Visitation will be at Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Friday, February 18, 2011 from 3:00-5:00 pm. Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church through the funeral home. |

© Enid Morning News Enid, Oklahoma May 1998 March 24, 1946 ~ May 18, 1998 The funeral for Leland Andrews, 52, will be 2 PM Friday in Ladusau-Evans Chapel with the Rev. Floyd Westfall officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. He was born March 24, 1946, in Ruleville, Mississippi, to E. M. and Cora Lee Johnson Andrews and died Monday, May 18, 1998, in the Seiling Hospital. He attended Starkville, Mississippi, schools, and on April 12, 1965, he joined the U S Army, working in the motor pool. He was discharged in April 1968 and on May 10, 1968, he married Bessie Bright, and they made their home in Cleveland, Mississippi. They moved to Enid in 1978. He worked with Headlee Petro-Mark as a sales representative. He is survived by his mother, Cora Andrews; three children, Leigh Anne, Karen Andrews and Leland Andrews II; three sisters, Elsie Kersh, Kathleen Melton, Faye Bright; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father. |
