James Marvin Alford
July 14, 1902 ~ November 16, 1986


Services for J.M. [Marvin] Alford 84 will be Thursday at 10:30 AM in the Henninger-Allen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev T. Arnold Davis officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Alford was born in southern Oklahoma on July 14, 1902.

He had worked in oilfield construction for the Chicago Bridge and Iron Co. most of his life.

He and Faye Kerr were married in Liberty, Missouri in 1929. They retired in the Enid area in the late 1950s.

Alford was proceeded in death by his wife, two brothers and a sister.

Survivors are a daughter, Betty Jo O'Dea of Enid, a grandson, and two great grandchildren.

Pearl Agnes [Champney] Alford
September 17, 1905 ~ June 27, 1982


Pearl Alford, 76, longtime resident of Enid, died Sunday evening in a local nursing home.

Funeral services will be at 10 AM Wednesday in Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Leslie G. Everitt officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Alford was born September 17, 1905, in Harper, Kansas, to George and Laura Champney. The family moved to the Enid area when she was two years old.

On November 6, 1964, she and Ralph Alford were married. He died January 18, 1980.

Mrs. Alford was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, and active bowler in Enid Leagues and a longtime employee of Gold Spot Dairy.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Jim [Ruth] Tharp and Mrs Odessa Moore, Enid; two sons, Jesse Ramsey, Drummond, and George Ramsey, Austin, Texas; one sister, Mrs Tacy Lackore, Portland, Oregon; one brother, George Champney, Topeka, Kansas; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made in her name to the First Presbyterian Church with the funeral home serving as custodian of the fund.

Willa Faye [Kerr] Alford
1909 ~ March 1, 1982


Faye W. Alford, 73, 11 31 ½ E. Maine, died Monday evening in a local hospital after a long illness.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 AM Thursday in Brown funeral home Chapel with the Rev Paul Enabnit officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs Alford was born near Lamont and moved to the Ponca City area with her parents, William and Mildred Kerr, at an early age.

She attended schools in that area.

On July 8, 1929, she and James M. Alford were married at Liberty, Kansas. They had lived in Enid most of the time since then.

She was a member of Davis Park Christian Church.

Survivors include her husband, James M.; one daughter, Mrs Ray [Betty] O'Dea, Enid; one brother, Jack C. Kerr, Enid; one sister, Mrs Wade [Fern] Morris, Eufaula; two grandchildren, and step father, W. E. Badger, Enid.

She was also survived by two great grandchildren and preceded in death by one brother.

Harold Dale Alford
November 11, 2925 ~ March 24, 1984


The funeral for Harold D. Alford, 59, 1700 Mosher Drive, will be at 11 AM Tuesday in Ladusau – Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Nodell Dennis will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Alford died Sunday.

He was born November 11, 1925, at Chandler where he attended schools.

A veteran of World War II, he served with the United States Army in the Tank Destroyer Division. He also was employed by Central Dairy Products for 21 years in Shawnee and Enid.

In 1944, he married Nina Dotson. They moved to Enid in 1957 from Shawnee.

Alford also was employed by Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and with the Community National Bank. Most recently, he was employed with FDIC at Wichita, Kansas.

Alford was a member of First United Methodist Church, the morning AMBUCS and a former member of the Lions Club.

Survivors include his wife, Nina; two daughters, Mrs Steve [Carolyn] Blevins, Yukon, and Mrs Bob [Patti] Bridges, Quanah, Texas; four grandchildren; one sister, Mrs Charles [Thelma] Connor, Broken Arrow; and one brother, Jack Alford, Chandler.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Memorials in his name may be made to the March of Dimes Crippled Children Fund and or to Abused Children Fund with the funeral home serving as custodian of the funds.

Enid Man's Death Is Ruled Suicide

From Staff Reports

A 59 year old Enid man died Sunday afternoon of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest, according to police department reports. Harold D. Alford, 1700 Mosher Drive, was found in his car in the south parking lot of Edgewood Arms Apartments, reports show.

He had been shot with the .22 caliber pistol, police reported, and Bass Baptist Hospital determined the bullet hit his heart.
