Hickory, who died Tuesday in a local nursing home after a period of ill health, will be at 2 PM Friday in Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev Milton Miles and the Rev Harold Caywood will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Adams was born July 30, 1896, in Harrison County, Missouri. He came to Oklahoma in 1921, settling in the Pawnee community where he farmed. In 1942 he moved to Blackwell and worked for the Blackwell Zinc Company for 22 years. He then moved to Enid in 1962. Adams was a veteran of World War I, serving with the United States Army. He was also a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Six Point Sunday School Class. On March 19, 1931, he and Evelyn McCurry were married. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; one daughter, Virginia Seelen, Metarie, Louisiana; two brothers, James R. Adams, Ponca City, and Leonard Adams, Pawnee; one sister, Lela May, Blackwell; three grandson; and seven great grandchildren. Memorials may be made in his name to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Heart Division, with the funeral home serving as custodian of the fund. |

Flynn, Oklahoma 1982 1899 ~ 1982 Funeral services for Mrs Pearl Adams, 82, 218 N. Taft, who died Wednesday evening after a period of ill health, will be at 2 PM Saturday in Henninger-Allen Funeral home Chapel. Dr Lloyd H. Lambert and the Rev Lewis Corporon will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Adams was born July 1, 1899, in Nebraska. She had lived in various states before moving to Oklahoma at an early age. The former Pearl Mathews, she and Vorie E. Adams were married November 28, 1917, in Enid. They moved to the Douglas area in 1918, living there until he retired in the early 1960s. After his retirement, the couple moved to Enid. Mrs. Adams was a member of Pleasant Valley Christian Union Church. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs Johnny [Marie] Herrian and Mrs Jim [Marjorie] Butler, both of Waukomis; five grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and three brothers, Clifford Mathews, Cherokee, Gene Mathews, Carson City, Nevada, and George Mathews, Yountsville, California. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vorie, in 1978, and five brothers. Memorials may be made in her name to American Cancer Society with the funeral home serving as custodian. |

Adams, 69, 564 N. 11th, died Saturday afternoon in a local hospital due to a fall down an elevator shaft at the Youngblood Hotel. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 PM in the Fossett Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Jim H. Logsdon officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Adams was born on March 18, 1905, in Allen. He later moved to McAlester and lived there until 1942 when he moved to Clinton, then to Enid in 1958 where he has made his home since. He was married to Clara M. Hoffar at Weathers in 1926. When he first came to Enid he worked for the Youngblood Hotel, and later worked for Serve Air at Vance Air Force Base until 1965 and then went back to work at the hotel as a maintenance engineer. He was a member of the Baptist Church. Three sons preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Clara, of the home; three daughters, Mrs Don [Virginia] McKnight, Owasso, Mrs Ray [Juanita] Myers, Elk city, and Mrs Jack [Frankie] Cook, Enid; four brothers, Arthur, Enid; Homer, Clinton; John, Fresno, California, and Sam, Hartshorne; 14 grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. |

Graveside services will be observed at 3:30 PM Saturday in Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid. Mrs. Adams was born in 1905 at Hughes in Indian Territory and on February 10, 1926, married Oral H. Adams. He died July 20, 1974. She had lived in Enid in 1958 – 1959. Survivors include three daughters, Virginia McKnight, Claremore, Juanita Myers, Elk City, and Frankie McCoy, Enid; 14 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Florence Cagger and Viola Haikey, both of McAlester. |

And Elizabeth Shepherd Shire, and died November 20, 1998 at Integres Bass Baptist Health Center. At an early age she moved to Wellington, Kansas where she graduated from Wellington High School. She married Harry L. Adams November 23, 1927 at Phillips University. She graduated from Phillips with a Masters in Education and taught school in Lahoma, Drummond, and North Enid schools. She was inducted into the Oklahoma State Teachers Hall of Fame in 1987. Lucy was a member of Central Christian Church where she was past Deacon, Elder Emirtus, Supervisor of Jr and Sr Departments, president of Christian Women's Fellowship, director of Vacation Bible School, Dean of Summer Christian Church Camps, President of Church Women United and was Mother of the Year. Member of the Gideon Auxiliary and was coordinator of Oklahoma Jail Ministry and past Auxiliary President. She was a member of the Phillips University Alumni Board, Founders Day worker and past president of Phillips University Parents Organization. International students were always a part of her family and home throughout the years. Lucy was involved in many community organizations and services including Republican Women of Oklahoma, AAUW, Life member of WCTU, YWCA, VFW, and American Legion. She was also a member of Friends of the Library, Garfield County Historical Society and League of Women Voters and a trustee of the IOA Boys Ranch. Her greatest joy was her students and teaching. She enjoyed oil painting, playing her piano and organ, she also was a published poet. Lucy was preceded in death by her husband December 3, 1994, a granddaughter Janice K. Congdon, and adopted son Yung Liu, and five brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Zilphaa "Zee" Congdon, Enid; a son Dr David L. Adams, Moscow, Idaho; six grandchildren, Linda Hogue, Texas, Gary J. Congdon, Enid, Michael D. Congdon, Chickasha, Mary Catherine McCoy, Enid, Lisa Egan, Boise, Idaho, Amy Luft, Boise, Idaho; nine great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one sister, Mrs Clara Page, Tulsa, Oklahoma; one brother, Glen Shire, Sacramento, California. She was a loving mother and a very special grandmother and will be missed by all. He later moved to Enid and attneded Enid Business Collage. On July 17, 1960 he married Evelyn Duffy in Fayetteville, Ark. He joined the Navy Sea Bees in 1944 and served in World War II. He was stationed in Okinawa until 1945. In 1946 he went to work for Oklahoma Natural Gas, retiring in 1975 as a chief operating clerk. Surviving are his wife, Evelyn of Enid, one daughter Sharon Lea James of Lutz, Fla.; and one grandson. |

He was born March 6, 1924 in Whiteright, Texas to Wesley and Willie Mac Peate Adams, and died Thursday, June 23, 1994 in the Hillcrest Medical Center, Tulsa. He attended school in Ardmore, Oklahoma and married the former Marie Myles on January 26, 1944 in Enid. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army Air Corps. He was a member of the Philadelphia Seventh-Day Adventist Church, the Masonic Lodge and was a Shriner. He worked 20 years at St Mary's Hospital in the Maintenance and Purchasing Department, retiring later from the Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa. Survivors include his wife, Marie, daughter, Mary C. Schilling and her husband, David of Merced, California; three grandsons: Jean-Andre, David II and Daniel; one sister, Betty Jo Adams Dawson of Oklahoma City; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. |

Adams, age 80, of Enid, will be held Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Terry Walborn officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. He was born to Luther Green and Minnie May [Powers] Adams on May 28, 1929, in Columbia, Okla., and died on January 28, 2010, in Pauls Valley, Okla. Shirley served seven years in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Barbara Jean Dodd in 1950, and they had one son, Arnold. She died in 1953. He worked as a section gang foreman for the railroad. He married Belva Jean Phillips on May 25, 1959, in Guthrie, where they made their home. They lived in various towns in central Oklahoma, due to him working for the railroad. They moved to Enid in 1977. In 1994, he retired from the railroad after working for Santa Fe, Rock Island, Union Pacific and Burlington Northern. Shirley was a member at Abundant Life Temple. As a child, Shirley and his brothers and sisters played musical instruments and enjoyed the family get togethers. Shirley and his brother, Arnold, are up in heaven picking and grinning with the angels. He is survived by his children, Arnold Adams and wife Paula of Alex, Dennis Adams and wife Vivian of Cushing, Sherryl Burdick and husband Don of Yukon, Anna Unruh and husband Clifford of Groton, Conn., and Lori Unruh and husband Rick of Enid; 13 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a brother Luther Lee Adams of Kingfisher; four sisters, Margie Heird of Guthrie, Rosie John of Edmond, Willena Miller of Oklahoma City and Lucy Seaton of Cashion. The family will greet friends in the church parlor before the service. Cremation arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory. He was born to Paul and Clarice [Rozelle] Adams on August 25, 1934, in Chadwick, Mo., and died Monday, September 6, 2010, in Enid. Paul attended schools in Memphis and then attended Memphis State University. He married Mildred Poole April 9, 1960, in Memphis, Tenn. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1984, serving in Vietnam. On June 10, 1978, he married Jane Keel in Universal City, Texas. Paul retired from the Air Force in December 1984 as a lieutenant colonel. After moving to Enid, he was self-employed in advertising specialty sales. He was a member of AMBUCS, Air Force Association, Central Christian Church, where he was an elder and in Sooner Sunday School Class, and was active with Boy Scouts of America. He is survived by wife Jane; sons, John Adams of Arcadia, Paul Phillip Adams Jr. and James Adams, both of Enid; daughter, Lori Myers of Oklahoma City; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sister, Debra Frazier of Germantown, Tenn.; three brothers, Dan Adams of Memphis, Tenn., James Adams of Cos Cobb, Con., and Wayne Adams of New Canaan, Con. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred; parents, Paul and Clarice Adams; and brother, Robert Adams. She grew up in Hutchinson and graduated from high school there. She then attended the Nazarene College in Bethany. On May 25, 1959, she married Shirley K. Adams in Guthrie and they made their home there. They lived in various towns throughout central Oklahoma since her husband worked for the railroad. They moved to Enid in 1977 where she was employed as a nurse's aide at St Mary's Hospital, and then later was a caregiver with Integris Bass Home Care. She was a member of Abundant Life Temple and was always active in the women's ministries. Jane was born on September 20, 1938, in Hobbs, NM to Guthrie A. and Margaret [Strother] Keel, and died Tuesday, August 16, 2016, in Enid. She grew up in San Antonio, Texas, where she graduated from high school. Jane received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Trinity University in San Antonio. She taught for two years in France and Germany, before returning to San Antonio to teach at Randolph AFB for 15 years. On June 6, 1978, Jane married Paul Adams in Universal City, Texas, and they made their home in Enid. She volunteered at Leonardo's Discovery Warehouse, was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, the Sooner Sunday School Class and Central Christian Church. Jane served many funeral dinners at the church. She enjoyed crocheting. Jane was preceded in death by her husband and parents. She is survived by her children, John and his wife, Kathy Adams, Arcadia; Lori and her husband, Johnny Myers; of Oklahoma City; Phillip Adams and James Adams, both of Enid; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and her beloved dog, Ciby. He was an oil field mechanic for 30 years, working for the last seven years of his oil field career in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. He worked for Northrop as a certified licensed air frame and power plant mechanic until his retirement. He was a member of the Twister Car Club and an avid classic car fan. Leo is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mrs Linda Cooper Adams of the home; son, Mr Randy Adams of Tulsa; and mother-in-law, Mrs Joanne Cooper "Mom" of Enid. Linda was born on April 25, 1948 in Hennessey, Oklahoma, the daughter of Marion Joseph and Joann Cooper, and passed away peacefully on June 4, 2023 in Enid after a courageous battle with several health issues. She was raised in Hennessey, where she enjoyed growing up on the family farm with her two brothers and several animals. She graduated from Hennessey High School with the class of 1966. During her time at Hennessey High School, Linda met her high school sweetheart, Leo Adams, whom she married on June 6, 1966. They had one son, Randy, and made Hennessey their home until 1976 when they moved to Enid where they would remain lifelong residents. Survivors include her son, Randy of Tulsa; older brother, Gary and wife Diane Cooper of Oklahoma City; sister-in-law, Rosann Cooper of Wagoner, Oklahoma; several beloved nieces, nephews & cousins and several dear friends. She was preceded in death by both her parents, Marion & Joann; her husband, Leo; her younger brother Jim "Jimmy" Cooper and one of her lifelong best friends, Judy Hudson.
