Charles Wesley Acton
April 14, 1861 ~ December 25, 1952


FAIRVIEW - Dec 26 - Service will be announced by Speece Funeral Home [Fairview Funeral Home now], Fairview, for Charles Wesley Acton, 91, of Enid.

Acton died Thursday night in his home.

He was born in Boone County, Iowa April 14, 1861 and came to Oklahoma from Smith County, Kansas in 1911.

He settled west of Fairview and for a time operated a grocery business. He taught school for 25 years in Kansas and also was a trustee and assessor there.

He was married in August 1891 to Minnie B. Cox who survives. Other survivors are four daughters, Mrs Maude Campbell, Portland, Ore; Mrs Martha Van Dusen, Fort Morgan, Kansas; Mrs Josephine Webber, Kutch, Colo and Mrs Bonnie Holland, Madera, Calif and a son, John Acton of Enid.

Hazel Gladis [Reed] Acton


Graveside service for Hazel G. Acton, 93, will be at 2 PM Monday in Memorial Park Cemetery, with Tom Frisbie, minister of Davis Park Christian Church, officiating. Services are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

She was born May 8, 1900, in Major County to George W. and Alice Beatrice Shaffer Reed and died Thursday, March 10, 1994, in Austin, Texas.

She lived most of her life in the Enid area, with the exception of the last five years in Austin.

She married John Acton in 1922. He preceded her in death in 1978.

She was a member of the Davis Park Christian Church and a life member of the Enid Rebekah Lodge No 21.

Surviving are a son, Jerry of Austin; four grandchildren and eight great - grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five sisters.
