Arthur Howard WARD

North I O O F Cemetery


ENID — The graveside services for Arthur H. Ward, 81 year-old Enid resident, will be Monday, July 26, 2010, at 10 a.m. in the North Lions Cemetery , Marshall, Okla. The Rev. Dane Lemmons will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

Arthur was born August 21, 1928, in Marshall to Clarence L. and Hattie (VanHauen) Ward and died Friday, July 23, 2010, at the Commons, in Enid. He attended local schools and graduated from Hayward High School with the class of 1948. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. After the war, he returned to the Lucien area and began farming, first, with his parents. After their deaths, he bought the home place and continued farming there.

He enjoyed working on his farm equipment and building all kinds of machines. He had lived in several nursing homes in Enid during the last 15 months of his life. He was well liked by the staff and other residents and liked them in kind.

He is survived by two brothers, Vernon L. Ward and wife Wanda and Norman E. Ward, and wife Elnora both of Lakin, Kansas, one sister, Ruth Ward Schoenecke and husband Charles of McLoud, Okla., his special friend, Ida Walker and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Rex Ward, his sister Almeda Ward Moore, as well as an infant brother, Chester .

Memorials may be made to OMRF (Diabetes Division) with Henninger-Hinson as custodians of the fund.
